Confused as all can be. Bloat, Dehydration, Stomach Pains, Can’t stand up

I had 2 twin buck fawns and I noticed they both had bloody stools 2 weeks ago. Gave Ivomectin and both cleared up and looked great. This week I noticed we could walk extremely close without them jumping up. We gave Target Electromax, B-12, and pedialyte hoping that they were only dehydrated. We found one buck dead and we are expecting the other one to take the same path unless we do something quick. His belly is full like he is eating but today he is too lazy to get up. If he cant stand i don’t think he is eating. It has been 100-105 heat index this past week in IL. Today was only in the 80s so it has cooled off so the heat shouldn’t be a factor anymore. I forced 15oz into him and stimulated him to see perfect dark green pellets. We noticed there was a beaten trail to where he was laying and it was from him rolling over and over and over because he could not stand up to walk. We pick him up to put him on his feet and he is extremely shaky but can walk about 5 yards. His legs kept cramping up and sticking straight out when we were feeding him. That tells me lack of fluids and muscle cramps from dehydration. Again tonight we just gave another cc of B-12, Electromax, Milk, water, and pedialyte, and thinking about pulling from the mother but we can walk right up to him so don’t know if that’s necessary yet. We have got him pee and has perfect stool.

We have been forcing him to drink liquids and we no longer think dehydration, we have got plenty of pedialyte water and we gave him very little milk. We have been treating him for bloat and followed the recommendations from you all. When we go to feed him if you push on his belly at all he balls in pain. But is still too weak to stand up do we now give him milk so he gets the fats and proteins or is that going to cause more bloat? We got ringers today to give sub Q, how many cc do you give and how many times a day? (do you still give it if you think you got him hydrated)

Just wondering what could be something with his internals making him look like he has a full belly but is causing great pain if you touch it, or why is his stool perfect.

Any information anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!!

Sounds like bloat to me. This is another very different scenario, this fawn is still on the doe, and is going through what Liz and I are discussing in the other thread.

Difference here, the bloody stool early on might have made me think a touch of either e-coli or coccidia, but sounds like you have that aspect of it cleared up. However, the reminants of those bacterias could be contributing to the bloat? Not sure.

Doesn't sound like LRS are what you need at this point. If still dehydrated, I would say yes, 50-100cc's every few hours WARMED UP - very important so that you don't crash their body temperature. 30cc's = 1 oz, so if you go by the rule of thumb that they need a minimum of 1oz fluid/lb. body weight to maintain minimal hydration, you can figure out how much to give. Sub-cu fluids will blow up like a balloon under the skin - don't let this freak you out. Best to give infront of the shoulder, on either side of the neck. They will absorb it as fast as they need it, so the faster the bubble goes down tells you how bad they needed it.
