I am a female with a big passion for deer and was hoping I could get you all to help me sort through a few problems I’m facing. I was raised on a working cattle ranch and recently moved off of it and into what’s left of my grandfathers cow/calf operation. It is only 80 acres, but has nice buildings, a home, and good pens.
I am very interested in transforming this property into a deer farm, but have been unsure whether to pull the trigger because the small town has been closing in around it. My biggest concern and question is whether being so close to town would put too much stress on the deer. There’s an elementary school a mile away, trains nearby, and a neighborhood less than a mile away.
My next option would be to wait several years to buy my own land and start from scratch. This would take a large chunk of money for me to be able to do. I would love to stay where I am at to preserve the family farm. Any advice on this?
Sorry for being so long winded!

I am a Ruckey deer farmer

Not sure what type of deer you are looking to raise, but i have fallow dear i raise in my camp site. I do know i have a lot of vehicle and foot traffic right by my pen, not counting how many people stop to talk & feed the deer. I have not seen any stress on my fallow deer.:)

Where at in Kansas are you? Feel free to contact me and I will help the best I can. I’m two years into raising whitetails.

I would not think it would have any affect on the animals. They get use to the noise and should be fine. I've seen operations right in town with no issues.
