Deer Loose, Need help!

I had a tree fall on a section of the fence, and 2 of my deer got out. A buck that was being sold as a shooter, and 1 of my best doe. I am currently out of meds to tranq them and they are on order but wont be here for another week. the way the pen is set up (which now I know was a mistake) i cant seperate the other deer to leave the gate open. This is the first time I had any get loose. I need as much help and advice that anyone can give me, PLEASE!



Thank you anything will help and I appreciate it. Im at a total loss right now.
 
the doe most likely will come back , just keep checking the out side of the fence, might take a day or to . the buck well he might be off checking the out side girls ???? never to be see again , or he might stick to the doe ???? its very hard to say with bucks . where are the deer in the rut where you are now ???? sorry and keep us/me posted
 
i am certain the doe will come back, but what to do when it comes back is the tough part. the buck i will just put in the freezer if i see him, its the doe im most concerned about. I am located between morgantown and reading pa

i feel your pain.......been through this myself.......there are only a couple options......one being able to leave the gate open and luring her back into the pen with feed or you will need to tranq. her when she comes back........is there anyone you know that you can get some of the meds from and when yours comes in you can replace the meds? this would be your best bet....good luck!!
 
ive exhausted my options in regards to the people i know in the area. most of the guys close will not help you, sad, but this is the reality. the local guys just dont want to see other farmers make any money or have success bc they feel as if its taking away from them. also the local guys dont have guns or meds. How they move or med deer is beyond me. everyone i have asked just tell me this type of thing happens and its a loss, and to move on. how long before i contact the dept of ag?
 
she most likely wants to get back in the pen on her own just have some one man the gate while you heard her back in just take your time as she we be jumpy/bolty , i would not get trigger happy on the buck yet healso might just want to rejoin his girls???? good luck

Thats a bunch of crap.......I would sure like to know who the people are that you contacted and would not help......i could understand if they are not close but if you have some that are close by and still won't help they are the type of people we don't need in the Industry.........I'd love to know who they are ........you can send me a pvt and let me know so i can put them on the no business list...........Truecountry is the doe bottle fed??
 
ill be more then happy to send ya a pm. the doe is not bottle fed but shes hand tame, eats apples from the hand. she has a fawn in the pen still. its weaned but its still in the pen
 
First off don't panic.......you are not the first one to have deer get out and you won't be the last.......I did not contact the Dept. of Ag for a few days until I saw if I could get the deer back in quick (this was my way you can call sooner if it would make you feel better).........after that i contacted them and they just informed me to contact the local game commisssion to let them know about it. Have you seen the doe around at all.........I would for certian put some feed out for her so she keeps coming back for the feed...........I would do it close to the gate for now...........I would do this and keep watching for her........if she starts coming in for the feed you have two options.....she will need tranq. (if you can find meds) or you will need to find a way ti where you can keep moving the feed closer to the gate and eventually inside the pen until you can get her back in........this is the only way i have ever heard it being done.......
 
Come on guys....isn't there anyone close to Truecountry that is willing to help her out with the tranq. meds she needs?
 
it only happened at 4pm today. i have put out some apples and some feed just outside the pen. and will keep an eye out for her. and will try and coax her into the pen while i man the gate. i should be able to open the gate and walk the rest of the deer to the other side if shes close maybe she will come in on her own. i know i guess im more upset bc this is the first time this has happened. been farming for 3 years now and had heard stories etc, but nothing bad has happened, but i guess this is the first. i appreciate your advice and help. will be a few sleepless nights i guess.
 
Hang in there I am sure she will be back.......the buck may return too........she will probably be back to be with the family and friends.......good luck and i hope you get sme sleep it really should be ok........they usually come back!!!
 
You must call your vet and have him/her call all other vets in your area, someone must have what you need. If your vet won't do this then get a new vet. If you like, I can call my vet for you tomorrow to see if she has anything. How far away are you from Hazleton / Bloomsburg pa? Are you near I81?
 
I'm in Hazleton and my vet is in Bloomsburg. I am one hour north of Harrisburg straight up 81. Let me know what your vet does for you. If my vet has what you need then your vet can simply call it in. You could have what you need and be back at your farm by early afternoon. I have work tomorrow but I will check the posts. Whatever I can do. Let me know.
