Great day when you get a phone call from your wife that there are 3 dogs running around your deer pens and will not leave. She ran them off ( she want shoot a gun) . After loosing one doe and having several hurt the dogs where gone. Sheriff was called and didn't want to do a report cause deer aren't live stock. After educating him with a 30 min talk and a telling him to do his job or he would be going to court along with the dog owner. He agreed to do a report. Called the dog owner up explained that her dog just killed a 6500.00 doe and several more are hurt and could die. She said a deer is worth what, no way. I said yes you need to get your dogs up and call a lawyer and you home owners insurance cause we have a problem. I got pics of the dogs on my place, dogs in her yard, and pic of the hurt and dead deer. Made the sheriff sign my report I wrote and give me a report he wrote and signed. Guess we will see how this goes.

Tom, Very Sorry for your loss! Keep us posted on what comes of this but I think you have done the best in a bad situation by documenting Everything and getting you facts on paper!

Gets better after talking to the owner of the dogs and explaining what she already is going to owe wife wife called yesterday afternoon and all 3 dogs where back she was holding them off and I called a friend. Two down but one got away sheriff came out and made another report. I'll be home Tuesday and the third dog is going to be taken care of. Stupid dog owners don't care about livestock, bet she will after she pays the bill sheriff is on my side and said he will go to court as a witness. Dog catcher said he would be a witness and several people have come up and said they will also.
I hope not only the dog owners learn a valuable lesson but all the Dog owners in your area learn it to.....hopefully word gets out and you won't have this issue in the future!! There are lots of people out there that should not have dogs......unfortunately, the dogs pay for the ignorance of their owners.......I hope it all works out for you Tom!
Those dog owners sound like people we had a problem with, and the only thing that affects people like that is hitting them in the pocketbook. Some people just don't think letting their dogs run free is a problem, and those people should either learn the hard way or not have dogs.
Yeah she is going to learn both ways no dogs and pay out the *** cause I'm making sure she does. She is a school teacher so she is telling everyone about her troubles and when she gets drug to court she will really go to crying. I'm pissed and she will find out just what happen when you let dogs run wild
Its one thing to let your dogs roam around your property. Its when the owners let them run the county. There are responsible pet owners, and then there are people like your dealing with Tom.
I can tell you this, you better find a lawyer that will help you in this kind of a case now so when it happens to you you'll be ready. 20 calls unit I found one that would take the case. The sheriff said open and shut case and still hard to find a lawyer to take it.

I don't ever say anything to your posts but you just struck a nerve if you are talking about Henry Martin. You don't know him and know what a good person he is. Sometimes, no all the time, you should keep your thoughts to your self!!!!!!!!
Any advice he gives is to truely help people and not sell product. And for your information shade cloth does help with dogs on the OUTSIDE of your fence.

And exactly as Dennis stated... it's the dogs that suffer for the owners negligence.
It's only natural for most dogs that when something runs from them...they chase.

That is exactly why I try to wipe out all loose dogs within a couple miles of my pen. I have been there and do not care to repeat. SSS period.

Shade cloth will help certainly but it will not stop dogs if they are trying to get in and scaring the deer, only lead will do that and that would be my solution or warn the neighbors before it gets to that point which I would also do. Our animals are expensive and we lose enough every years as so as it is for various reasons.
If your comment was meant for me offer the shade cloth I think most everyone on here knows me and knows how to get in touch with me to buy it and yes, it is still on sale. I also have different millage HDPE plastic that is customer sized that will keep dog out but also capture all wind.
I offer products to deer farmers all over this country and other countries as well and I love what I do and in fact I just cannot imagine doing anything else. I offer advise when I know I can help otherwise I keep my mouth shut and learn. I take photos for many different deer farmers for their print ads, banners and business cards because I wanted to do more in the deer business, again to learn. I joined in with a farm that is doing well with around 140 deer right now.
I am all for freedom of speech, I offer up my thoughts on face book all the time about political issues, current affairs and so forth and I never have stopped saying my peace or told someone else not to speak theirs. If anyone has an issue with me I would encourage them to call me and talk to me personally.
