Thanks Jonathan.

Anyone else used this product and what for and did it work for you?  We need to share information on all new drugs to see if we have something that works better than other antibiotics as none of them are really for deer.

I also had three lambs with very bad pneumonia but only gave the drug a day ago so time will tell on them.

Jack,

It is supposed to last 21 days in the lungs, I give it every 5 days. I used it in my fawns this year and was very happy with it. Donald hill has used a lot of it. Don't know if he gets on here much.

Just an update on the chronic lambs that had pneumonia for a month.  We treated them on the 10th of Dec with Zuprevo and today their breathing and snot have cleared up.  Looks like this is a very good antibiotic for pneumonia.

Jerrilee we will go to a five day treatment plan to see if we can cure these lambs up completely.  They are 3/4 bighorn and very good looking lambs.  Thanks for all the information as it looks like it will cure them up.

We also have had a vaccine made from some of the lambs that were sick earlier this spring.  We are giving them this vaccine now and have given all our sheep this vaccine.  Hope this will have a good response for our 2016 lamb crop.  We also use Josh Newtons shots on our deer and have a very good response to the problems we were having.  Fact is the first year I used it we had 100% no problem.  If his shot doesn't work it only means the disease you have wasn't incorporated in his shot and you need to get samples of your sick animals to him so it can be put in the shot.  Sharing information will help all of us in our industry.

That's good to hear jack.  I have had zero luck with it helping my whitetail.

Truth,

Do you have a drug sensitivity done on your disease issue your treating?  I find these tests to be very helpful when treating disease issues.  But the tests usually take to long to get results back to help the animal your trying to save but do help for others with the same symptoms.  This leaves us with our best guess at first on antibiotic to use.

I curious what symptoms were you using Zuprevo on?  That way the rest of us will not use that drug if we have like symptoms.  Or email me that information if you would for my own information.

Thanks.

Jack

My domestic sheep friends have told me Zactran is working very well for foot rot and Fuso problems.  Have any of you used it for deer because if it works on sheep it will work on deer usually.  Fuso is a problem in our fawns in our deer industry every year so might be a good drug to try next year if the problem comes up.  I have put that drug in my memory for next year as I get some even though we give the mothers shots so that is in their colostrum to help the fawns.  But after four to six weeks old that immunity wears off so that is when the fawns are susceptible..

I treated a 1.5 year old buck with 2cc Zactran two weeks ago. This buck has a Fuso infection in his rear hock joint. I have treated him with several other anti-biotics for the last six months with little effect. After the Zactran injection the swelling has gone down and he is using the leg more/better.

I also treated a five month old fawn with .5cc of Zactran for a Fuso infection just above a front hoof that had not reacted well to other anti-biotics. Swelling went almost back to normal and he us walking normally on that hoof/leg.

Draxxin, Nuflor, Penicillan  had no effect on these Fuso infections. I have used Draxxin in the past with good results, but not this time.
