What are the symtoms leading up to death if a deer has EHD? I have a deer that is acting our of character. He is somewhat lathargic and seemingly somewhat dilerious. Because of the leftover feed in this pen he is in and the fact he looked gant, there seems to be a loss of appetite. His breathing is definitely more rapid and short. I shot him with 2cc draxxin last night when I noticed him. Thanks in advance for any immediate input. This is a near 200 in 2 year old. Almost forgot - another symptom - this buck has, that I find most sick deer have, is a show of fuzziness - which is created by their hair standing as if they are chilled and have goose bumps. If he dies, how do I test for cause of death?

Sand: we have found that not all deer present with symptoms that mirror each other. We have had some deer show following symptoms, frothing or foaming at the mouth, bloodshot eyes , inflammed eyelids, limping(walking on cut glass), rectal bleeding, fussy ( hair standing on end), ears flopping, isolation, swollen tongue, licking and swallowing with chewing their cud, blindness, dizziness or staggering, bleeding from the injection site.

These are the symtoms we have seen this summer , not all deer present the same way.

Good luck and spray for midges every other day.
