fawn- losing hair

This is my first fawn to rehab and it came to me from someone else through a Game and Fish recommendation. It was probably only days old and has been 3.8 lbs with the umbilical cord still on. As this thread talks about, she has lost all her body hair. She still has her neck, head, and lower leg hair. I will get the vitamins today. I always dislike the learning curve on new animals. I feel so bad about her naked little body, her spots were beautiful. So, here's my question. Will her new hair have spots or be her adult colored doe coat? How long do you think it will take to grow back in. Thanks so much for your help. I feel like a new mother searching for answers.

first fawn that curve is going to look like a telephone pole instead of a curve :)

new hair won't have spots. I got one many years ago that had severe hair loss. I put a small dog/pet shirt on it sometimes. It took a while to grow back, seems like a couple of months.

I have a yearling buck who hangs out and rooms with my black-belly sheep.  (long story)  When he was little, the sheep would occassionally bite at him or bite off a mouthful of hair leaving a bald spot or crew-cut spot.  As he grew his fur came in and he looked normal.

For the past few weeks I'm noticing more balding areas (alopecia).  Could this be a mineral deficiency?  Food allergy? ???

To answer some of the previous questions posted:

- he sleeps on straw and/or hay

- he eats in the fields, plus gets a scoop of sweet cob a day along with fresh apples and carrots.  Now with the garden in full production he gets kale, kohlrabi, broccoli, peas, and raspberries.  If he could, he would love a bowl of layer feed as well (but doesn't get it)  In general, he has a very good appetite :)

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Dyan

My little rescue is only 3 weeks old and not loosing a great deal of hair.  She will shed but I can only tell if I am wearing black.  Thick hair on her belly.  My little one spends a great deal of time inside.  I take her out maybe 8 times a day bust she doesn't like to be outside for very long.  Just long enough to do 5 or 6 speeding laps around the yard.

I will keep an eye out for hair loss.  The temp down here is around 102degrees full sun, so I am raising her mostly inside.
