Well, I think my AI fawns might all be complete now. Unless of course something pops yet in the next few days. Otherwise I think the remainder of my fawns will be from the back up buck.
Today we got a single buck fawn from TX Tea on GD Romeo on GB Magic on PA Geronimo on GB Goliath 1 on a Magnum/Studley doe.
Foodplot, looks like you just had a future breeder buck born. With the production in that pedigree, I dont see him disappointing you. And I don't think there's a farm out there that wouldn't like to have that doe as well. Congrats. Also Rodger, congrats on that fabulous buck fawn, I hope he stays healthy for you, I want to see his two year old pics on here in the summer of 2016!
Alright, so I pulled two out of three doe fawns to try my hand at bottle feeding just now. This is the first time so needless to say I'm scared to death. Got the nursery ready with my river city replacer on tap. SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ENCOURAGING WORDS BEFORE I PULL MY HAIR OUT!

Bottle feeding can be the best of times, if you never mind they can be the worst of times as well
But here is what new people need to keep in mind. I think we have all heard the stories of some family who found an "abandoned" fawn and decided to save it's life. Truly abandoned or not isn't the point. The point is that regular old joe blow folks have many times successfully bottle raised fawns with little to no previous knowledge of just what the heck they were doing. You on the other hand Jeremy have deer experience, deer farmer friends and this forum to help you through it. You will be fine!
We had a little sour luck last Saturday but wanted to report that sense then we have had healthy twins and triplets. Six bucks & six doe all big and healthy. Very thankful. 30 or so more doe yet to go!
Its all worth it in the end when they become your eternal pain in the butt's. Bottle feds have their way of doing that.
Just remember if you are unsure, ask, there will be many people here that will help. If something doesn't seem right ask. Better to be safe than sorry. I always look at it this way. The survivability of my bottle feds is greater than the non-bottle-feds. I notice something wrong and treat. Non-bottle-feds have this way of hiding sickness sometimes and you don't see it until it is too late. Bottle-feds tend to show you and you can treat and they will be fine a majority of the time.
We added three more yesterday! Express Kid/Goldrush/Hardcore/Vortex. Two bucks and a doe. The Goldrush doe had 180 inch slick yearling last year! The Vortex doe is a White 8 daughter! Lots of frames in these little guys!
Our last Thunderstorm daughter has triplet bucks as of right now. So Thunderstrike, in three does has given us 9 buck fawns and one doe fawn! She may have one more in her
Coldspring that is a deep pedigree.I own white 8 she is a great doe.just had my first Texas Timber (Texas Tea / white 8) fawns of the year 1 buck 1 doe out of white 18 she had a set of twins that went in the 290s @2
Our Thunderstorm daughter had quintuplet bucks....had a little 3 pounder also. Three bucks are out with mom. All are about the same size and doing well. Little 3 pounder is in the house right now.
Finally got first fawns today!! GD Gladiator X/ GD Romeo/ GD Pluto/Scout/ Gd Romeo s womb Sister . Buck and a doe. No Texas tea fawns yet Mike but very Soon !
It's unbelievable you had five healthy buck fawns from your doe I am stunned others just keep posting without commenting or acknowledging your accomplishment. I've been in the deer business quite a while and I don't think that I have heard of healthy quintuplet bucks. I know you had the quad bucks also. This is more than a powerful straw of semen. It is a testament of the overall health and quality of your animal husbandry. You are doing an incredible job with the husbandry of your herd. Congratulations!!!
Thanks for the compliments! They are taken to heart for sure. I put quintuplets....it was supposed to be quads. Getting a little tired here! Babysitting does all day But, looks like most of my big girls are done and should be having mostly doubles and looks like several singles too. We ended up getting 10 buck fawns and 1 doe fawn out that straw of Thunderstrike. Have two more in the tank and if that isn't motivation to get them used up this fall....I don't know what is! My Allstar daughter is number one mom out there....she's got all four of those little buggers fed and bedded all the time.
