Hello I have recently joined this forum. My dad owns a small herd of Whitetails! We have a 5mo old buck fawn that had a fence accident about 3 1/2 months ago! I found him laid out on his side and unable to move his back half at all legs tail nothing! I found this forum and started researching on here. I did the pinch above the hoof test and got response, so decided to try and see if I could get him going again! We took him to a local chiropractor who adjusted him. He said he had 1-2 fractured ribs. His left side has always been weaker! We gave Dex and Banamine for the first little while. Long story short he now can move and stretch his tail, move his back legs has good muscle tone in them, if I pick up his legs he kicks like a maniac, if I put his hoof in the palm of my hand and push he pushes back excellent. The problems were facing is he can’t get up by himself, he can’t stand or support his weight by himself! Like I said it’s been 3 1/2 months, my question is will he continue to get better, or what is causing him to not be able to support himself? He obviously weighs a lot more pry double in size does that have some effect on why he won’t carry his weight? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You will have to put him in a sling, i am sure his body outgrew what his legs can support if he has been laying around all this time. Good luck

We do have a sling that we put him in every day, I also help him stand for awhile too... the sling has definitely helped.
