I just picked up some ivomec injectable and now realized I got the ivomec plus. It says it's for cattle only. Can I use this one my deer or should I return it and get just the plain ivomec?

I use it all the time. The only difference I know of is that the plus will kill liver flukes also. Good luck with your deer. Allen

They do that for legal reasons, they don't want to pay for the testing on goat and sheep because the market is too small in the US. So they say Cattle Only to cover their butts. Most Goat and sheep farmers are just like us deer guys......... Using meds off label.

The dosage recommendation is 1cc per 110 lbs. So I always give slightly more, and I know people that give much more. I typically give new borns 1/10cc. The fawns I worked today were 8 to 10 days or so old, I gave them 1.5/10cc. I use 3cc syringes because they are easier to measure out and discern smaller amounts of meds. On mine, every black mark on the 3cc syringe, at the recommended dosage of ivomec, is good for 5 lbs of deer. So today I used 3 marks which is good for a 15 lb deer, and the fawns probably weighed 10 or 12 lbs. I would imagine the avg. month old would weigh 25 lbs give or take, so I would give 3/10cc. I know alot of guys give alot heavier dose, and I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just don't, and I don't have worms.

We worm our fawns in the feed and then worm them in the fall with Ivormec Plus Injectable. We are one of those that probably give on the high side. We will give 3cc in the fall to this years fawns and 6cc to all adult deer through our handiling facility. This has worked well for us and we have never had a problem. Best of luck

Thanks to all for the replys! Not a big deal but it will save me the gas and the time of running back to the supply store.
