Well it was a good approach taken by the state house and senate yesterday. Even though did not approve the transfer from the state WRC to the DOA,They have allowed people now to apply for and now get new captive permits ,( $50) build their new facilities and expand their current facalities and can now start moving forward with a good program. It also allows the sale of cervidproducts out of state and also sell and trade in state with movements of deer and elk.  For now they cannot import deer from other states but this was a positive win and common sense and sound judgment was used buy all those that reviewed the positive information that was sent in regarding the facts about the industry vs hype and the negative image that has been spread by the qdma and their counterparts. The NC Deer Farmer Asso will be soon looking at embarking on a program to educate the public, sportsman, farmers and people interested in the industry and show them first hand information and advice on running a successful program.

George Washington Vanderbilt II imported whitetail deer from the north to the Biltmore estate property for he and his wealthy friends to hunt. He was considered one of the most wealthy, well read and educated people of his time. Mr Vanderbilt importing and transporting the whitetails to his private property in Asheville, NC for he and his wealthy friends to hunt would not be not part of the egalitarian wildlife models our conservation departments try to force on our private property and industry today.

Oh spoken so true Bell, The guys in NC have been under some tough restrictions over the past 14 years. I remember when they implemented a 5 year moratorium on import and export and no more farms or expansions were to be done until after the 5 year period was up. Well it was up in 2010 and the state WRC always found ways to delay, stall and BS the guys in NC, There was also a lot od lack of experience in the state side since they had no one that was really qualified to oversee and help people with questions or come into compliance. And they still do not have a qualified person to my knowledge that has any captive cervid training or worked in a farm operation. Because of this its always been sort of like a Private  telling a General what his job was. But now at least  some common sense prevailed and guys currently in operation can move forward and now people that have been reviewing this form of agribusiness can also now venture forward. Education was always the limiting factor the the state guys had and also constantly being influenced by qdma . It was a lot of positive information and hard work that help the state senate and house to really see things more clearly. As I said earlier now a more informative and educational program is being developed to showcase the industry and business to the people and get away from the hype and lots on misinformation and blame game that had been directed towards the deer farm industry.

The average hunter has no idea how stupid the QDMA really is. They are all hype and bs on most topics. They don't know what quality management is. They are led and fueled by their sponsors. They don't care what the truth is.

NC taxidermist asso had a convention meeting last week and a lot of positive info was shared with folks there . Also a lot of the misinformation spread about CWD over the past few years was discussed. I have always said that education and fact based science needed to be brought out into the open and shared. A first point of contact that out of stare hunters have is the taxidermist and there are now several that are going to give a few free open house clinics on transportation or cervid parts that come from states that have zones that may have cwd and how to prep, skin , debone and cape and properly dispose of any cervid parts. A lot of the taxidermist are now seeing alot of things more clearly now vs the hype and partial BS that qdma (Questionable  Deer Management Asso ) & camo coalition bunch has been slamming down everyone throat the past few years.

You have my admiration for trying to make a difference yourself. Dad and I are grabbing the bull by the horns here in Indiana. The summer study here in our legislature isn't going to turn out good for the opposition. It is amazing the progress that has been made when we began to use our limited time and God given ability to fight back. Keep up the good work!
