Hi I got a fawn last monday unfortunatly people found him in the grass and took him home not understanding mom would be back for him,I got permission from conservation to have him and care for him,I took over my dads fallow deer farm two years ago after he was killed so I do have the property for him but have never had to care for a new fawn,he is doing great but I need help, when do I start feeding him grain and what kind, how long do I bottle feed him and how much after he is two weeks old, I live in a very small town and am limited to the grain I can buy here wondering if their is more than one kind of grain I can feed him:confused:.Please any help would be great thank you.

i feed my fawns whole milk with 1 tsp of milk replacer mixed with every bottle 3 times a day at two weeks he will probably eat 7-8 oz but i would probably work him into that slowly he is not use to that milk and may upset his belly. you should feed about 12 weeks. there is lots of different grains you can feed i would go to my local feed mill they should be able to help. make sure you do not increase feed to fast and at 12 weeks he should end up around 12-14oz. you may need to stimulate him to poop if he is not already doing so on his own atleast once per day. good luck

Jillene - there is a ton of information on this site, and most of your questions can be answered by doing some searches on the different topics you mention and reading what all of the folks on here have to say. There are as many different ideas and recommendations about how to raise a fawn as there are deer farmers, so take a look and pick the program that works best for your personal situation. If you have specific questions, I am sure that people will be glad to offer advice, but for general "how to" info, you will find it has all been discussed previously, and is here for everyone to refer to.

Good luck with your fawn!
