Immediate Action Required: Farmed Cervids Transfer is Still Alive in Senate

Members of the Missouri Senate are still pushing for passage of SB964. This bill aims to transfer control of farmed cervids from the Missouri Department of Conservation to the Missouri Department of Agriculture, this action is supported by the Missouri Whitetail Breeders & Hunting Ranch Association.

SB964 was perfected on April 23, and is on the Formal Calendar for its third reading. This may happen today. If SB964 passes its third reading, it will head to the House for approval.

Time is of the essence. Please act now to let your Senator know you SUPPORT SB964 and the transfer of farmed cervids from the Department of Conservation to the Department of Agriculture.

Use the following link to look up your Senator and their contact information: http://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup

At this time we only want to contact your State Senator, you will be able to find a telephone number and a link to their email in their contact information on the left side below their picture. Call or email them and tell them you support Senate Bill 964. Below is a draft to help guide you.

Dear Senator (Blank),

As your constituent, I need you to know that I am firmly supportive of SB964 and the transfer of farmed white-tailed deer from the Department of Conservation to the Department of Agriculture.

The farmed cervid industry supports thousands of jobs in rural Missouri, and provides a vital income to many family farms. Animal health and the promotion of agriculture are specialties of the Department of Agriculture, and they are the most appropriate agency for protecting both the livestock and wildlife of our state. Private property rights are also a major concern of my family and my friends.

Please vote YES to SB964.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

(YOUR NAME)

Brad, would it help for an out-of-stater to email your Senators?  Or would it look like out-side influences effecting your state?  What can we help you out with?  I know everyone on this site will do anything they can.

It might not hurt. I would let them know that the Conservation sent you the email even though you are out of state. That will let them know the Conservation is having people that do not even live in Missouri contact them. Maybe you could call your Senators. This does affect you. It will close down the borders so removing potential clients, maybe even causing you to redirect travel of deer around our state. They also say a non Missouri resident can not own or be partners on any deer in the state. Have your Senators contact Missouri Senators. I appreciate the support of everyone on here. If this gets through in Missouri, who is next.

You know guys ,I don't care what state your farm is in if we don't take some of this bullcrap to a court of law and fight for some rights EVERY state will soon be doomed !  Yes I know we send all sorts of great people to fight (talk) for us but it gets worse and worse and worse with no releif or light at the end of the tunnel . I don't know who in the heck comes up with all these new rulings ever dang year but they got to be nuts and their only intent is to put us out of business !  And I mean EVERY STATE ! I have been preaching some lawsuits for years ans it falls on deaf ears as we keep fooling ourselves that we can talk our way through this crap ...Hey we can't ..it dosen't work ! We have tested the living crap out of our animals , we have had to become secratairies with all the paper work and we damn near have to be a lawyer to follow all the new rulings. When do we stand up and I mean STAND UP and fight this horse manure ?  You can talk all you want when someones shooting at you and your still going to die. It's time for some lawsuits , it's our only way to survive !!

You got that right. Its not CWD that is the problem, thats just their bullet. The problem is the states have screwed up their wild herds so bad that hunters in every state are up in arms about having no deer to hunt or no adult/mature deer to hunt. That brings more folks our way and pulls money from the DNR.

If you read every bad report someone writes about us it starts out with CWD and with in two sentences its all about big antlers and high fence hunting. They are running scared and using CWD to fight back and they are gaing ground because we are not fighting back!  Sad Really.

The new CWD program standards were released this morning. I think there is language that might impact Missouri deer breeders situation positively in the document. CWD it seems isn't as highly infectious as those against us proclaim. Thanks to all who have worked behind the scene for us! I know some language in the document would not read the way it does if you hadn't stepped up!

gary,

I put a synapsis on the members only and also posted the gov published synapsis of the last changes made
