Well 1 down 5 to-go . It turned out ok i think , not as tight as i would have liked it . That section will have sight barrier on it so maybe it wont look as bad :) . I got a have moon section to do next , about 400 feet . Around my pond dam , i think i will do it in 100'-150' sections instead of trying to pull all at once ??

I would do all 330 at a time so you dont have to conect it. If you can get a bucket tractor to lift the wire and make up some type of rigging to go through your wire and let it spin as you move the tractor along it works real good. A roll of wire is to heavy to do by hand. I tie mine off at the end that I am starting if it is a 330 sectoin or shorter drive to the other end then set the roll down stretch it as tight as I can get it then cut one wire at a time and tie it to my end post.

I made a fence stretcher out a 10' piece of uni strut and 4-3/8" eye hooks bolted thew on the fence side. Then we attached 3-3/8" eye bolts on the opposite side to hook the ratchet straps to. This allows you to tighten individually top, middle or bottom as needed. It was cheep to build. Worked great.

After we fenced in our first acre by hand without the use equipment we decided that was going to change. We have a local rental company that carries skid steers at a decent rate over the weekend.

I figured that if I made something to fit a Bobcat would be great. I keep the attachment and only get the Bobcat when I need it. I did some investigating and found a junk 60" bucket that the owner was tired of repairing. I put a 10' piece of pipe on the cutter blade and welded gussets back to the bucket. On top of the gussets I welded on a 10" disc. Now when I get a roll I put a 24" plywood ring on top of the welded disc then speer the roll and away I go.

I would spool out about 100 ft having help tack it on the post. I would then quick disconnect from the bucket leaving the bucket and wire standing straight up. I would then sandwich the wire between 2 treated 2X4's with 5 evenly spaced carriage bolts holding it together. I would then wrap a strap around the top and bottom of the 2X4's and attach it to the mounting bracket on the Bobcat and tighten the wire with the Bobcat. Which works nice because you can lift the wire up and down to get it on the post correctly.

Sorry so wordy.

A fence hog is a wonderful thing! It picks up the roll, spools out the fence and has a tensioning bar to pull the fence tight. If you find someone in your area with one it is worth the money to rent or contract it.
