I have been through this myself. I think the most important thing is to maintain your integrity through the uncertain times that braking apart can bring. No one comes out untouched or ahead in these situations but it does not stop people from trying. Its me and what i can get, what i have to have, and what is going to benefit me the most. When if we would just slow down and realize it's only deer. That there is more to loose here. Like who you are, what you stand for, and the name you have built for yourself. Starting over isnt hard in fact it is often a blessing. Think of what all you have learned and how you can now do things different. How moving forward and looking beyond this moment is now your focus. So what ever you decide to do with the deer is secondary to what you choose to do with your life.
From the sound of your posts it seams you got a good grip on it. I have had devastating blows delivered to me from partners in previous business. But i am still here, still focused, still driven, because through out it all i never forgot who i was and not what the situation made me to be. Integrity!!!
Good Luck,
