I was going through my pictures the other day and came across some of Texas Timber at 1 week old.
Texas Timber was born in the middle of a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, he was the smallest fawn out of triplets. Him and his sister Sweet Tea, laid in two inches of cold water, for about two hours while W-8 was trying to push out the third fawn. Which ended up being a really big buck fawn, but was still born. Texas Timber and his womb sister never got to nurse or get any colostrum off their mom. We ended up pulling them bc they were freezing. I did not expect Texas Timber to even make it through the night. He probably didn't weigh 3 to 4 lbs when he was born, and without receiving any colostrum from his mother it was a fight to keep him and his sister alive. Which I give credit all to my wife for keeping them alive. It took a long time for Texas Timber to get any size, as you can see in the picture his sister is twice his size. I really did not expect him to do much of anything as a yearling. Then he suprised me again. He grew 178" rack as a yearling which may not be the biggest but it's impressive to me for a 3 to 4 lb fawn. This year at 2 he is now W-8's biggest two yr old to date, out scoring his half brother Jackson's two yr old rack by about 25". He is def. not Texas Tea's biggest two yr old, but he is def. a good one considering he started out so small.
Thanks for reading this.
Just wondering has anyone else had anything like this happen?
