It has been brought to my attention that the Buckeye sale thinks they own the auction date we are having the Midwest Select on. The date in question is Feb 3-5, 2011. For the last 2 yrs the Midwest Select has been on the last weekend in January. For the last 3 years the Midwest Select has followed the week after the SCI Show! This year the SCI show has moved and the date has been moved one week forward. We then accordingly moved the Midwest Select ahead one week. I would like to point out that in 2008 the SCI show was moved ahead one week and the Midwest Select was the first Weekend in February that year. (Check your auction catalog dates for 2008) In 2009 when the Buckeye sale was put on it was the week after the Midwest Select sale. If they had looked into the scheduling of their sale that year they would have noticed that the Midwest Select was at that time the year before. Now they think that is their date. I am sorry if any one thinks that we should move the Midwest Select because they automatically take precedent one of the biggest winter events in the industry. We will have the Midwest Select on Feb 3-5, 2011 regardless of the fact the Buckeye sale is scheduled then or not. I think common courtesy is due here, and that is the only right thing to do. I am not here asking for permission. I am making a stand, If the Buckeye Auction Company had done their homework in the first place they would not have scheduled a sale the week after the Midwest Select in the first place, and we would not be having this conversation. By the way we were never contacted about a conflict on this date at Buckeyes first auction in 2009 nor have we been contacted as to when we were having our sale this fall. In ending it is not my or Jerry Campbell's agenda to have a sale on the same date as any other auction company. The dates are close together on all the auction companies schedules. But I feel we owe it to the industry and our customers to give the the opportunity to attend the Midwest Select and that would not be possible as many of our customers will be at the SCI show booking valuable hunts that support this industry we all love. That is our due courtesy to them. I hope everyone understands!
