I was browsing through here the other day and saw thae nutrition facts that some of you guys have for your red cap milk. I saw only 3.5 g/fat per 8 ounces? I don't know where you are gettin your red cap but the red cap (whole milk) I use has 8 g/fat per 8 ounces. The brand name is Gallikers. Any rebuttal from anyone?

I've stayed away from this discussion as I have no real opinion on the use of the red cap milk. If it works for you go for it.

But the one thing I do know is a whitetails does milk has 29% fat in it so I think red cap is a little short in that regard. I think healthy growth could be a factor here. There are other minerials and Vitamins red cap milk is short on from analysis compared to whitetail doe milk. Just my opinion here people I'm not wanting to fight.

I can't find the post you are talking about to respond...I listed numbers I got off of a nutritional website I can't find my post, so I have no idea if it's mine you are referring to...

Not being rude but...

I also don't care what other people use...I don't sell red cap milk ...

All I can say is we (me and my boyfriend) have raised deer since 1995 and have never had healthier more rounded and bigger fawns ever...I can't explain the numbers part...but can state they are healthy and great on it...

I DO NOT want anyone to change what they are doing... I don't care what anyone is doing...I don't want to fight about it anymore.

If someone needs something call, but I feel the dead horse has been beat enough...

I am happy feeding what I am feeding and hope everybody is having great luck with their fawns and happy with what they are feeding.

People on here don't know me and I my come off wrong until you meet me... but I hate drama and bullcrap games.

I love the simple life...My kids and my deer that's all it takes and I'm happy:D:)

My dad was an attorney before he passed so I can debate...When we would get in trouble...We would debate our mistakes ...We would beg ...Please just beat us and get it over like most families;)

I agree....happy with my Red Cap for now.........not debating anymore.....i want everyone to be happy and comfortable with what ever feeding system they choose.....a nice big fat healthy fawn is what we are all after in the end!!! THEN BRING ON THOSE ANTLERS!!!!!!

Come on you guys I was just gettin' ready to put a good old fashioned whoopin' on somebody! Now your taking your ball and going home. I see how ya are!! ZZ

I thought the 3.5 was refering to percent milk fat per volume. Hence the name 2% for blue cap, 1% for light blue cap, pink cap for white water:p.

Hey Jack, Not looking for a fight but everything I've seen on deer milk list the protein at 8.2% and the fat at 7.7%. That's alot closer to the cow, goat, horse, and most other animals I've checked on. The 29% of fat content in the replacers is the dry content before mixing it with water. After mixing it is 8.6% We had this disscussion on another thread with John Swank and he helped clear up the dry vs. wet %. Rick

Lets not forget this is a discussion forum . i think buckskin is on target, Zz i cant resist, you must be loaded with plenty info, if you come to do battle. spit it out!!, just my thinking on this whole milk deal!, i for one was a zoologic fan, when i started this was no 1, i thought i wanted best, it was more expensive, than i could have got but i wanted best, well after reading forum for few yrs,i decided ther is lot of milk that will raise a deer! so i went this yr with manna pro,Suckle.I give 35dollars 40 pounds, and so far i like it better than zoologic, easier mixing. no floating stuff, fawn went from stinky gass, almost runny poop, to starting to pellet in couple days, tell me you gotta buy, the expensive stuff, i think the protien is 22, fat 10, it is medicated, fawn is doin great, healthy. i respect the fact that the red cap crew stand firm in what they believe! it tells me, it cant be all bad. so if your tired of the milk crap dont tune in cause i gonna pry, all i can,i might have deleted study, but in short time i gonna ask for opinions, we must look pretty stupid at times to the veiwng other non particapating members, it time for all to communicate, save you private messages for, other.this is where the new farmer relys on few yrs back i was a new farmer,I still trying to learn thing or two!!Dc

We feed only one thing here at our place. Bud Light. Now I know some of you are going to say we shouldn't be using Light and we should go with the higher fat content of just Bud, but we have been pleased with our results so far so we are sticking to it. Now I will admit we do use a chaser once per day to go along with the Bud Light. But hey, I mean the days get long and you can only do so much butt wiping before it gets old:)

Roger i think BUSCH is much better only my thinking from past exp, DC:D PS if you use lite you deffinatly need JD, chaser.only my thinking !

Roger I agree with you on the butt wiping thing, we just started on a set of quad doe fawns that were 3 weeks behind the rest of our doe fawns(sure wish there were some bucks in there:eek:

ZZ, I'm alwaysup for a good debate Buckskin you are rite on the %on dry verses wet that is were alot of people confused not understanding what they are reading just asumeing. Ive seen and raised alot of fawns on a lot of different replacrs but so far nothing compares to my good old red cap milk i'm using now. Much cleaner easier and my fawnsare healthy and doing better than they ever did on any thing else. I put gallon of milk in bucet of hot water for 5 min or so then pour sraight into botle feed wash out bottle done. Doesn't get any easier than that boys. None of this measuring mixing messy stuff i used to have to go threw plus bottles clean out much easier and i can spend more Quallity time with my fawns.

Virgil the only problem i see with redcap is , well that it to simple.:eek:and i would have to make more trips to store! just dont seem right not mixing!Dc Ps i got the mixing down i put cupp to a two quart jug, shake pour.use warm water it ready then, i heat bottles on stove later, real simple.DC

Rick.

That is good to know. If that is the case it's no wonder the red cape milk plan is working. Thanks

Guys......it's no big secret that many times we as people like to complicate something that is basically simple..........The red cap is as simple as it gets....AND IT WORKS! That is good enough for me! Now if things change I will be the first to admit I was wrong! But as for now......if it ain't broke....don't fix it!!!!

Hey Dennis goat milk would be better for you since you are feeding a bunch of goats.Although you do have a few whitetails you got from that place up North. Just a thought.
