sick buck?

Same four year old buck that had EHD six weeks ago. He's been coughing pretty bad since, been on 3cc Draxxin SQ every three days for three weeks, , on 2cc Baytril SQ every day for last week(five days). Coughing/hacking is much improved...



Today I saw him start coughing, then moving forward at a fast walk coughing, head to the ground. He was vomiting up stomach bile, prolly a pint or more of it!! He is still losing weight also.



Any suggestions, help????

get him on shock efect ASAP , not saying it will cure him but will help , what im saying is if he is vomiting he is losen all the good bugs & stuff in his gut, with shock efect it will replace whats lost , or at best help , CALL STEVE HE IS A DEER FARMER AND A AWSOME PERSON HE WILL HELP YOU , DAVID UGI NJ
 
I gave him probios as we went along, maybe not enough??



I loaded him with probios this am, going to repeat tomorrow and will get some shock effect in him.

I'm thinking a rumen transfer from a healthy deer to this buck would probably help also, if the probios/shock effect treatment dosen't show improvement.



We did a successful rumen transfer on a colicky fawn several years ago, almost instant relief from colic.
 
I got more Probios in him early today, and one tube of C&E Deer Paste this afternoon. I just saw him vomit up 1/2 cup of greenish bile, coughing as he did it.



Anybody ever seen this???

NO. WHERES YOUR VET ? THIS IS SOMETHING THAT A ( WHITE TAIL ) VET HAS TO DEAL WITH , PLEASE LET US ALL KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE FOUND OUT THE BAND AIDS ARE NOT HELPING THIS GUY, HE NEEDS MEDS asap

mostly mouth, some nose. I think it originates in his stomach, that much stuff coming up from his lungs is not probable....



I'd say like a person vomiting and some sprays out the nose also. Nasty.
 
is he eating or drinking? If you see this after he eats or drinks its

possible he could be choked. He could have something lodged in his esophagus.

wouldn't an esophageal blockage cause the "vomit" to look undigested, raw like it went down???

what do you think of a rumen transfer from a healthy deer?
 
I would say ulcers from EHD would be very likely. Unfortunately I could not find much info on treatment of ulcers due to the make up of the ruminants digestive system. Milk of magnesia or peptobismol was all I could find. There is an injectable cimetidine (tagament) that might work, the oral takes very high doses.

Could be a toxic weed.
