Skinny Fawn - worms or??

I have a 5 week old buck fawn. Mother abandoned at birth due to bad front feet, couldn't stand or walk. Feet now fine. Am bottle feeding milk replacer and he is just starting to eat a little soy bean leaves, grass, etc., but not alot. And he is pretty skinny! Doesn't seem to be putting on much weight at all! Is this NORMAL or what should I do? Might he have worms and does that keep him skinny? He IS frisky and seems happy go lucky and bright eyed but a bony fellow for sure? If worms keeping him thin - at what point should he be wormed and with what? Am worried - any help appreciated.

I would be giving him atleast 12 ounces....but thats just me.....Should have a sample of his stool tested at your vets.......if no worms then he needs more food!!

Chance- I worm all my fawns at 1 month old, 2 months old and at weaning. I just put .5cc Ivomec Plus right in their bottle. What replacer are you feeding? On goat milk, a five week old here would be getting 16-20 ounces/ 3 times a day and eating plenty greens and starting to eat mixed feed real well.

You can gradually increase his replacer as much as he will tolerate without getting loose.

Had stool checked by vet ....NO worms. He is eating a little better, grass, soy bean leaves, twigs, grapes etc. Not much or alot but a little more seems each day and he is taking all his bottle now as we slowly increase amount. Guess he will be OK. Very frisky and seems otherwise healthy and happy.
