I went back to read the old forums about the soft swelling under a bottle babies jaws. Is it to my understanding that this is caused by parasites or is it something else? If so what is the treatment for this and how much? Thanks Jeff

Do you have any pictures you can post, Because.........

All in Fun, Jeff :D

Seriously though, we'd like to see some pictures if possible.

Thanks John, picture this, its not a knot on the side or the top. It is not a hard knot. It is a soft swelling directly under the mouth in between the two bottom jaw bones. It has a light pinkish color. It was noticed this morning at the 6:00 feeding. It also is wet from the bubbling foam or slobber or drooling from her mouth. Can this help? Jeff

I am at a lose, but I think bottle jaw can also be located on the underside of the jaw.

How big is it?

Did you try worming or had a fecal done?

Saline, What you are describing I call bottle jaw. Weather it is or not is another story, I'm not the sharpist stick in the stack! Here is what I would do in your situation. If the fawn is under 1 month old I would give 1cc clavamox (from your vet) orally or in bottle, 1st treatment, then 1/2cc every 12 hours for at least 5 days. If the fawn is older bump up to 1-1/2cc first then 1cc every 12 hours. In 3 weeks after initial treatment check whole body for lumps in joints or anywhere on body. If they appear go to tribrisson whole nother ball game. Keep us posted! Just one old "FADING" mans opinion! ZZ

Curtis, I peck to slow. You may have a better treatment I don't know. But my post is what we would do with bottle baby but don't know if it is. Your treatment is better for pen fawn. ZZ

I believe the fawn is getting better, it appears that about 75% of the swelling went down. I was going to take a picture at the 8:00 feeding but there is hardly no swelling left to see. Sorry John. For the record though, I did use what I had, 1cc nuflor, .3cc banimine, and one half cc of ivomec injectable dewormer. Thanks to all for the response. Jeff
