Any hockey fans on here? I must say May is my favorite time of the year, besides fawns arriving and antlers growing, I love the intensity of playoff hockey. I started this thread for anyone else interested in hockey to discuss the playoffs. The only disappointment to me this year is my two favorite teams are meeting each other in round one of the eastern conference quarter finals, the Pens and the Islanders, unfortunately one team will be eliminated in the very first round.

Who is your predictor to win the cup? I am going with the obvious, the Pens in the east, Blackhawks in West. I would love to see the Pens win it, they are loaded with talent this year, but I occasionally see some blemishes in the defense, and Flurey has to step it up this year if they are going to go for a deep run. Chicago looks hard to beat, and there is really is not a flaw in their game right now, its that simple, they make no mistakes, especially on defense. I say Chicago and Pittsburgh make it to the finals, and Chicago wins it in 6 games, I hope I am wrong though.
 
I think the Pens all the way......it is theirs to lose this year.......if they get everyone back and healthy they will be hard to beat....they will be a scoring machine! But you never know.....that's why it is so exciting......I am pumped for sure.......I am sorry but the Islanders are not one of my favorites...only have one and that's the Pens!! I really like the pens chances this year for sure! LETS GO PENS!!
 
I'm a huge Hockey fan. Partial to Vancouver myself. Luongo was horrible the other night.
 
I have to go with the PENS, I went to the game on Saturday when they dismantled Carolinia 8-3. James Neal looks to be back in full strength and Sid the Kid is coming back tomorrow. (WE WANT THE CUP)
 
Finals....Pens in 7 over Chicago. A smart betting man would take Chicago. But I think if Flurey can play his best in that series they can win.



I think the Pens need to sweep a series to get extra rest! If they have long series all the way through, it could be trouble.
 
I here ya Chris.....but I think the Pens are going to be more dominant than everyone realizes.....I think Flurey has an awesome back up.......if the need should arise......it won't be easy and Chicago is tuff.....but I think the Pens take it all in six against Chicago....
 
I am hoping for a Pens championship! All I am saying that If I were betting I would just have a hard time betting against Chicago, but my heart is with the Pens. I went to 4 of their games this year, they won all but one of them, best sport ever to see in person, hands down. I watched an NFL game live in person, an NBA game in person, but you can't even put them in the same category for a thriller as you would an NHL game.

I know the Islanders don't have much a chance, even if they would get past the pens by some miracle, they would be too wore out to handle the next series. Great to see the other Pens fans on here. If they make it to the finals, I am tempted to buy a ticket when the cup is in the building, I know its going to be pricey, but the atmosphere would be insane.
 
I grew up 3 miles from the Igloo... played a game there when I was 12, and I've been a huge fan for as long as I can remember. There's nothing quite like a hockey game in person.

With all that said, I'm hoping the Pens bring home the cup once again! Let's go Pens!!!!!
 
Mathew....you are are right...I have been to the pens playoff games and it is quite the experience to say the least.....but then again I have been to many Steelers playoff games with the same amount of zest and excitement....there is something to be said about playoff games......just brings on a whole different atmosphere!! I am almost ...almost....tempted to do a gentleman's bet with you (all for fun of course) ........I am all about the Pens.....actually, I just can't bring myself to ever think any other team is better than a Pittsburgh team....even if it's blatantly obvious....LOL!...just how I was brought up I guess!!
 
Hate to bust your bubble, you had better watch them RED WINGS. This is their 22nd year in a row going into the playoffs.
 
Ryan, you are sure right, the Wild are looking good tonight. That's the thing about playoff hockey that I tend to forget from year to year, there is not really an underdog, you make it to the playoffs and you have a chance. Look at the LA Kings last year, the number 8 seed, barely squeaked in, took every series with ease and won the cup.
 
Ok..... only hours away from Show Time.......but who's counting? If anyone ever told you that Penquins can't fly....they are a liar!......Cause your going see some flying tonight!! GOOOOO PENSSSSSS!!
 
Wow.....the Pens had better wake up or they don't have a chance......they got lucky today!! Whew! I don't usually get to worked up about games....but this one had me grinding my teeth........
 
The Isles are not rolling over.... They played a heck of a game this afternoon, In my opinion they played harder. But the Pens hung in there and squeaked out the victory, I love both these teams, but I like the pens more and I would like to see them wrap this series up in the next two games, The Isles are a physical team and I am afraid if this series goes to 7 games the pens are going to be pretty beat up.
