The AI's are coming...

We used PMSG on our 8 does, so far, 6 of 8 have fawned and the 7th is about to pop. We used PMSG and did ******l/cervical AI and split the straws;

Three sets of triplets (Noble)

Two sets of twins (Punchbowl)

One single birth ( This doe had some ******l bleeding when we ai'd) Noble

Im needing a little feedback from some of you guys about AI. My question is When can I stop expecting AI fawns and expect back up fawns ? I AI d 3 does on the same day (******lly one after the other) the first 2 does had their fawns at the same time at 193 days after the AI process. One has not had hers yet and is at 205 days from AI date. Is this too late for AI fawns ? The back up buck was not turned in the pen with them until 21 or 22 days after the AI date. She looks like shes about to pop and Ive been looking for the fawns everyday put shes hanging on to them. Shes been big and bagging up for 2 weeks just like the other AI does did so I figured she would drop her fawns shortly after the pther 2 did. Thanks in advance. Jeff

You could still get A/I fawns yet, but they should be DNA'ed to be sure. I think the longest we ever had was 205 or 208. I can't recall the exact number of days right now. But the fawns were confirmed by DNA to be from the A/I that time so I do know in fact it is possible.

Thanks Roger ! I will have all of the fawns DNA d, but was just wanting a little input from some of you . June 16 or 17 would be 200 days from when the back up buck was placed in the pen with her so if my math is correct then she would be at 183 days if she were carrying back up fawns. She is huge. A week from today will be 190 days if they are back up fawns assuming that he bred her on the first day he was in the pen with her. I feel a little better now. Thanks for letting my type at you! We just had another doe fawn last night... it was day 204. She has fawned the past couple of years between day 200 and 202, so I'd say it was to AI, but we always get DNA on the fawns just to be sure. Good luck!
