Things a Beginner Needs to Know (Reindeer)

I know next to nothing about reindeer farming, but I'm really interested in looking at it for a potential business.

I'm only 14 at the moment, but I go out to Kiowa, CO every summer and help with my aunt's alpaca and llama ranch, and I also used to work as a stable hand at a horse ranch in Vacaville, CA.

I'm looking at it for the antler, deer urine, holiday (Deer rides, sleigh rides, and renting for parties, and meat business, and I'm wondering if anyone has some important information, tips, and stories they'd like to share with me.

Things like their diet, health, pros and cons of markets, level of difficulty to raise, how hard they are to train, etc.

I've also heard that reindeer milk is popular and good for you, but is that a myth?

What are some of the best and worst qualities of reindeer venison?

When you work with reindeer, what are the risks? I know with elk you have to be up high when you let them through shoots because of the antlers. Do you have to be this cautious even with tame reindeer?

What are other animals that can co-mingle with reindeer, if there are any?

Thank you, Elizabeth
