I got a question . bought a deer from a guy on whitetail exchange . he said it needs picked up buy the 15 of april . I talked to him to find out when i could come get her he said he is working on the travel papers for her . What does that consist of ? I was hoping to get her this weekend . now i can not get a hold of him .

Jamie yur hands are tied untill he gets the papers done!!! I dont think there is anyway someone can give a deadline to pick up a deer unless there is alot of time givin for paperwork. It could take a month or better for that to happen!!

Yup you are at his mercy now. There is nothing you can do at this point untill paperwork is finished.Mke sure you are ready to pick up this deer or he may start charging you boarding fees.I know all about that stuff so dont think it wont happen. Most will not charge but there is some that will!!!

I dont know much about it still new to it all . i got 4 deer from another guy a while back all i had to do then was write tag number on inventory sheet pay him and load them ??

I am not sure why he would have to do paper work to transport in the same state but I know I sold two doe last year to a guy from lousiana and he needed health papers and paper work for transporting from lousiana and also from kentucky just bc he was going to be traveling through that state.

Thats what i was thinking . There not going out of state so what is the issue ?

Jamie,

Don't know much about your state requirements but would suggest you call your State deer movement agency (dept. of Ag.) to see what it takes.

Here in Montana any movement within the State from game farm to game farm requires a TB test plus written State movement papers from a Vet in the deer program. It would take 10 to 14 days to get this done.

I was going to move some today in state and all i had to have was health papers which had my cwd, tb numbers on it. I would call your vet or USDA

We have to have a health certificate from our vet which will state the deer's ID number on it and have both the farm registration number and CWD number, along with our TB status on it. It also has to have the farm registration number of the farm the deer is going to so Jamie, the person may be asking you for your farm info to fill out the paperwork. This paperwork goes with the deer and a copy goes to the state vet.
