Have doe that her two fawns are both on her and got the nasty smelling milk scours, vet told us it was from the doe having bad milk, I am not sure I agree with this will do samples but wondering if anyone has had this and what did you use to treat it.

Fawns were clean but wife walked up to them and they had flies on them and they seemed weak, brought them in and wiped them and the nasty smelling fecal came flying out.

Thanks

I must warn you, Don't put them back on her in that condition. The Flies will most likely lay larva inside the rectums of the fawns and kill them. I had the same thing happen, twin 10 day old buck fawns, they were walking around crying with nasty green diarreah. I cleaned them both up, kept one, put one with back with momma. The one with momma was full of diarreah and maggots the next day, and it was too late, I brought him in again, gave him an eneima, only to discover the maggots were all through him even way up into his intestines. He only lived an hour that night.

I tube fed his brother for 4 days until he finally took the bottle, starting a 10 day old fawn was one of the biggest fights I had ever been in. I swear he would have rather died. But he is alive and well today, and is growing an impressive second rack this year.

I would beat it is ecoli. I would most likely treat with baytril and fawn paste until your results come back. Tube feeding them with some electrolytes would be helpful as well.

Ron I just noticed I never answered your question from a few day back, sorry about that I must have overlooked it. Anyways, I tube fed the buck fawn 3-4 times, with 7oz. red cap everyday. I gave him 250-500 ml ringers solution when I first found him because he was weak, dehydrated. After that I was able to keep him hydrated on just the milk and every once in a while I tube fed some pedialite. tractor supply has an excellent kit for ringers solution.

After nearly 20 tube feedings, he took the bottle on his own and actually became one of my tamest fawns that year because I had spent so much time working with him.
