What is the real reason the DNR is against us.

Clay I think your on to something about the surcharge on both ends as farmers and preserve owners. However, I think the money would be better put toward promotion or the industry and a political lobbying campaign. We need a plan and a way to fund it. We have to be proactive.we have to Promote our industry and educate the public. Just my two cents

Kurt after being involved in our industry politics for 18+ years I believe we are wasting time trying to change the the minds of the DNRs.You could stop at any local bar at closing time and get the same results. They believe we are commercializing public owned wildlife period. In Montana the I-143 issue was run by 5-10 people that were able to sway the uninformed public. Our enemies operate by two plans, elimination by regulation and praying on the uninformed public.I agree we must educate the public and that is why people in our industry like Keith Warren are important. He is always willing to put it all on the line to promote and educate but we must do our part to keep him going.Allen Warren just quit promoting our industry due to all the heat he had to take.We must not lose another!

It is important for people to understand that what we are doing does not affect their hunting one bit. We are not taking deer out of the wild. The wild herd is the same as it ever was. Yes, we may fence our property, but we might fence it anyway to keep people out. What we do has zero affect on the hunting public! They are free to hunt as they always have. So if what we do has zero affect, why should it bother them. Granted some may not like what we do, but I'll bet there are other businesses and industries they don't like as well, maybe the liquor store or the tobacco shop.

DNR doesn't like to think anyone knows more about deer than they do and they hate the competition.

Each week in our TV show we try to portray what we do and why we do it in an honest fashion. We have received almost no negative feedback in nearly 3 years on the air now. We are on the same station as the Warren brothers. We are doing this show entirely on our own and hopefully educating some of the public.

I think OUR Industry has Failed BADLY when it comes to Educating the Public!

While Shows like Wild Rivers and Kieth Warrens .............Are a GREAT Start..........................OUR Industry needs MORE!!

This is something that should have been addressed back when the economy was good and OUR Industry WAS rolling along!

I for one and have mentioned it to others that OUR Industry should have a program similar to The Cattle Mans Association's ........"Check Off Program" :confused:Funded by ALL that Breeders and Hunting Ranches!

We have to be like ANY Business and Preach to the Choir the BENEFITS OUR Industry Brings to State and Local Economies and The FAMILY Aspects of Deer Farming!

TV time isn't cheap and production costs add a lot to any program. If you know what Keith charged to be on his show you have some idea. Also, time slots on the channels vary a lot depending on time and day and number of airings per week. Pursuit isn't on most of the cable stations, only Directv and Dish. More households means more cost.

Time for educating has passed in most states for now. Its time to go on offense and preserve the industry or shut down.

'Gettin' in this thread late but I agree w/ just about everything said, especially by Wild Rivers. I've had that discussion from the first day my fence went up in 2000. The main argument used against me was I was removing 300 acres of public hunting. Don't argue with a fool or 100 of them.

Yup i believe its lawsuit time now. If they want to use cwd as a scapegoat to shut us down then maybe its time to make them start showing just what it is that cwd is doing. Just like the Iowa case..First they say we shut you down and killed you animals because of cwd and now that its in court and the judge has heard from the experts Iowa now says...cwd is not a big deal.. One state at a time does just that with them now shutting borders because of cwd and who knows. The states are watching and im sure none of them want to be involved in a lawsuit either.

I'm getting in late also, However, This much I know. We had our 3rd of 4 meetings with Legislation Yesterday and this is working here in Missouri and y'all are helping. He have sent Invites to almost all of our State Representatives and Senators to Our Missouri Whitetails Facebook page and the information we are getting out is working. If you want someone to see something then you have to show them, If you want someone to learn something then you need to teach them. We must be proactive not reactive, Y'all have been great help to us here and we all are there for you. This is how we can fight this onslaught, TOGETHER! If we need Lawyers then we get Lawyers...Let me say this, Yesterday the Conservation Department was pressed by Legislation on why so few Deer have been tested n the CWD containment zone? The answer was "they are having a hard time getting land owners to cooperate with the killing and testing of the deer". The Public Deer! Yet they feel that it is within their authority to force us to cooperate in whatever they see fit with our privately owned livestock!....Lmao...There is many ways we all can organize and become quite large, we are working on that....Thank you all for the support and help.....troy

Scrape line, how can you be removing land from the public it wasn't public land to begin with? If you own property, fenced or not, it is not public hunting land. Our family owns nearly 700 acres that is not fenced but it is posted. We don't pay taxes on that property, plant food plots, improve the trail system etc. for the public. We called the sheriff once this summer after folks on four wheelers repeatedly were spotted on the land. They drove right past the no trespassing signs. Luckily we knew where they came from and the sheriff paid them a visit.
