I sold Asset in the womb of a Doc daughter, Here breeding goes back to a Donald daughter name Darlene. All my breeding.
I have an Arty daughter in the Mid West Select Auction that goes back to the same Donald daughter. She is bred to Archer. The doe pedigree is Arty, Auggie, Ace, Darlene.

Glad I have a 1/2 sister to Asset's mother. Same bottom but mine has Amos instead of Doc. Very few know that I have her, and have two daughters out of her. One is an Auggie daughter the other is an Arty daughter. Pure A-Team. Can't wait to see what they produce! They will stay on my farm for a long time.

Here is a link to Eye Appeal. He ended up 33 3/8" inside his beams not a tip to tip measurement. He might be the widest buck ever outside with being just a tad shy of 54". He also carried a really big typ frame inside of everything.

Man those deer are all knock down gorgeous. I really like them! Arty has always been one of my favorites. He is just right! And those 2 year olds are...spectacular. Any hunter would shoot on sight!...LOL
I think as an industry we always get a little carried away with a certain trait we are breeding for. Width is great with great value. We need it in our herds. But lets not get too crazy. Remember it is the only measurement that is just air! When the width is longer than the main beam length it is considered somewhat non-typical in most scoring systems. In fact the deer is not really growing a normal configuration. He will definitely have shock value but most typicals will have beams that curve back or at least forward at some point. They should never be wider than the main beam length. Most "superwide" deer that have width greater than their longest main beam are growing a little "different" than most.
With that said, the industry was definitely needing some width. And these deer are providing it. But don't sacrifice all the other characteristics we all love just to get width. Tine length, mass and upright lined up tines (this is my new one) are all important. When hunting, we don't always get to look at deer straight on. Sometimes we look from all different angles. A side view with stacked tines and beams that go out past the deers nose is also very Shocking! But as I've said may times..I really love them all.
If I had to choose between a 30 inch wide buck with 10 inch tines and a 24 inch wide buck with 16 inch tines...I'd just shoot em both. LOL Don't make me choose....Lets combine the 2 and have a 30 inch wide buck with 16 inch tines...now we are talking!

I agree 100% but i think when a fella is raising just shooters a pen full of wide ones will be the first ones on the trailer. When i was thinking about the deer i would like the most to look at and harvest i came up with lil-Bear's frame and width and Silvercross's picket fence look with nice long tines.... She will give me my first fawns this year. Now i will take that and mix in a little of my Inteperter,Tea,Bigfoot,Romeo,Flying Jack,Gold Bucky Boy...Opps there i go...Back on that width again..Seems i just keep going back to that air time! LOL
I agree Sam, hopefully I get the chance to produce a wide buck and then I can name him AIRHEAD ! LOL

Wide 23"-28" ( wider than what 98% of any hunter in the wild will ever see),Long Beams 29" +,Good Mass 50", G 2's longest tine 18"+ finished to a good point stepping down from there and 6x-8x or Better Frame.......................That's MY Dream Buck!!!

Eldon, Rawhide and my Maxin Eagle does will play a LARGE part in getting me there!
Maxin Eagle carried a 6x5 frame with 30" beams 18 5/8" g2 s and his full brother had 21 1/2" g2 s and a 400 lb frames and both scored 240"+@ 2and 350"+ @3 and both carried 400 lb body.Their mother Dena has NEVER Missed!
Rawhide has already proven his pass down 6x7 frame 29" beams and his first group of 2 year olds ranged between 230"-300"+ @ only 2 years old and 24"- 30"+
Know I'm crossing those combos with sires like Texas Tea,Lil Bear,Hugo,Moose and a couple other to push the bar a little farther!
Guess we shall see............ If I get there????
