Xylazine

My vet is saying that he is having real trouble getting me Xylazine. His source has had him on back order for a couple months now. Anyone know of any shortages? It's time to cut my bulls and I don't have nearly enough. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When You say "It's time to cut my bulls" my guess is you mean elk & not whitetail?

If your cutting for velvet, Check with your buyers to see if BAM is approved by the industry for this. Xylazine & lignocane (as a ring block) are the only drugs that may be suitable for this.

Cheers Sharkey

Dennis, I think Jason e has/is using the BAM II AI'ing, ya might pm him.

Thanks dtala. Sorry I don't know who Jason E is, could you let me know and also his contact info. 574-209-2226

Thanks Troy. Anybody else out there with experience using Bam for AI'ing.

Also, I seen you guys were referring to Bam II. Is there Bam and Bam II or is all the same?

BAM and BAMII are slightly different. Same sedative but the BAMII comes premixed, and Zoopharm dropped one of the reversals that was not needed.

Darted 3 bucks tonight to remove antlers. 2 with BAMII. 1 with regular Bam I had leftover. I reduced the dose and only used 1cc of Bam II for both bucks. Reversed with 2.25 cc Atipamazole (sp) and 1 cc Naltrexone. All got up within minutes as usual. 3rd one surprised the heck out me! I reversed him, bent over to get my saw and syringes, heard a grunt, and he literally stood up and walked away in less than 20 seconds!!! He was staggering, but still amazing to see one get up so fast!

My vet wants $340 for BAMII. is this way out of line? Michael were these big bodied bucks. Has anyone had problems giving 1cc of bam to bigger bodied bucks.

I just bought 2 kits for $526 shipped to my door. $255 each plus $16 shipping.

$340.00 is way out of line...

a lot of vets don't like what Zoopharm is doing by shipping direct to the consumer..us. Get another vet to call in your prescription..you pay for it...$255+shipping.

Obviously it depends on how much you use. If you use a dosage like Michael H. and I did which was 1 cc, it looks like you could get as many as 11 dosages. They provide a chart for dosing ranging from fawns to large bucks. When I cut antlers, I used 1 cc of the sedative and it worked fine.

You can knock down a mature buck with 3/4 cc and cut antlers. The trick is to fill the rest of the dart with lactated ringer.

Zoopharms dose recomendations are conservative, nothing wrong there.

I've found that 1cc will knock out a 180# buck, as in asleep out where you can cut antlers. I do surgery on a buck with that dose.

I darted a 100# buck with 1/4cc to treat for EHD, and he went down and out....more than I was trying for.

Dosages will to some extent depend on the individual deer and hand sticking em is no prob if the first dart dose isn't enough, done that. The reversal is safe, fast, and 100% reversal of the drug.

BAM II comes in an 11cc bottle, at 1cc per buck thats 11 bucks sedated AND reversed. $24.63 per buck. Does at half that cost.

My vet just sent in a prescription for me for three kits and will be getting zoopharms price of $255 plus $21 2 day shippng charge. Total price $786. I am excited about trying it out.

Just finished darting 27 deer with BAM. 20 adult does and yearling bucks, and 7 fawns. I am sold on it, absolutely awesome compared to tel/xyl.

You all convinced me to try Bam. Ours will be in Monday. About 40 bucks to cut antlers on. Thanks for the info on it. We are going to try 1 cc and go from there.
