Dog attack

Tom, Very Sorry to hear this......But I wondered if this would happen........we all know "You can't fix STUPID"!!

Again Hope you get the maximum amount available hitting them in their check book is all most folks understand!

Best of luck

I'm not one to defend the dogs and their owners, but if you live in a county like the one I live in, there is no ordinance for loose dogs outside city limits; therefore, dogs can't be "taken care of" until they are pestering your animals, and we all know that it only takes one time to incur a loss.

Court date set April 10th there is no law about them running loose but there is a law that says their owners have to pay for any damage their dogs cause

Statue 4-41

Mr. Gleason, I hope it all works out for you and your herd. The way you have handled this is incredibly professional. Best of luck.

Tom,

very sorry that you are going through this issue with dogs. I respect everything you have done and agree with your court case.

I had the same issue last fall and here is how it worked out for me, and it didn't cost me a dime or more heartache.

My wife was awoke at 3:30 am by one of our dogs barking. She went to door and heard a strange dark barking, so she woke me up. I grabbed a flashlight and the 12 guage and a handfull of shells. As I was walking to the pens, I could hear the dogs barking. Two dogs, one in each pen. My bucks were trying to **** each of the dogs in their pens. By the time the 12 guage roared, two dogs dead and 3 deer were down. One deer had a broken neck and had to be put down, two others had crashed the fence and died of injuries. Sheriff, DNR and vet visits came at daylight. We expected more deaths from stress, but luckily they pulled through. An insurance claim got me paid for my losses, dogs were dead and ordeal overwith.

I never did find out whos dogs they were, but I also never had to deal face to face with lies and disrespect. My question is, why not file a claim with your insurance, shoot every dog that comes around and be done with it? Reasoning being that she doesn't have a pot to piss in, any respect for your farm and the local law enforcement apparently isn't citing her for the problems. I am afraid your going to come out the bad guy on this. I truely wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted about the court date next week.

I'm going threw all this so that rest rest of the people around there will understand I am in the right and they have to keep their dogs up. If I just shot every dog I saw then the ones that I don't see will cause me hell. I have to prove a point and small towns talk.

I think I can say that we're all behind you Tom! I really don't know how you could come out as the bad guy on this!

Thanks time is nearing the court date I've never been in a court case so this will be a new notch in my belt

Ok won case settled for a little less as long as she gets rid of her dogs and is never aloud to have outside dogs again or we go right back to court and she is responsible for the full amount so I won the case and won the dog battle

Great job done Tom, but the loss of a animal will never be replaced. Glad you are able to put this behind you and forge ahead.

Tom glad things worked out in your favor.

Here is what we have been working with towards with our deer. Which starts at the Fawn stage. With a relationship as these two have other dogs do not come near. She protects them from the outside and plays with them on the inside.

Thanks Dennis,

Learning new things over the years and this was one of the best things we did introducing Marley to the deer. Actually these 2 are so close the when Tinkerbell had her fawns Marley cleans them off while Tink licks Marley all at the same time. Our bottle fed fawns are introduced to Marley immediately she will actually stimulate the fawns while creates a greater bond.

Only 1 fawn so far and Marley is performing the motherly roll to a tee. Minus the milk :D

Tinkerbell is soon to be expecting and Marley and her was confiding in each other as well.
