Maxie Murray, I wouldn't beat yourself up just yet. Some deer mature slower/faster than others do. I'd say by two or three years of age, you can make up your mind if its the right direction or not. They look good to me! Healthy! That's first you know. It takes years of breeding/nutrition to dial it in so to speak, unless you are Darren Deckard lol. By the way -"SHOOT THAT ALIGATOR DARREN"! -Jason DCW
I really don't know. I guess he got his head under the bottom wire and just pushed his self on in. I don't have any low land around my pens, but their are a few ponds within 1/2 mile. I guess he came from one of those ponds.
Chris, man that stinks and I thought the bears were bad up here. Your yearlings look awesome! What are they out of? Todd thanks for posting the pics for me. I guess I'm the only computer dummy on here and have the hardest time resizing my pictures. Best of luck to all with your boys. I love this time of year!
Thanks fellows, I am keeping my eyes open for gators now. Who would have ever thought that would happen?? Russ the first 2 picks are a KING KONG yearling, the others are Midnight Ranger and Rolex/10 yearlings.
Chris, Great yearlings! The Midnight one looks good I will get some Pics of Midnight Ranger posted soon. He has some damage to his right side but he is growing nicely.
Awesome Chris. I thought he may have been a Kink Kong. Our King Kong's are some of the best yearlings we have ever had at this point. Will see in a few months. I will get some yearling pics up soon. Our best as of now are 3 King Kong's, 2 Rolls Royce, 1 So it Ain't so Shadow, 1 Free Agent. Others are comming on now but behind these ones.
Thanks Richard for the comments on Rolls Royce. He was just starting G2's at this time last year. This year he has his G4's already and a lot more mass. I hope he keeps pushing late into September like he did the last 3 years but who knows he could finish early this year.
