Breeding Ol School ?

We have a variety of "old" genetics that we have crossed with some newer genetics. We own the mother of Avalanche who also had Dandy (280'+) who is his full brother. Dandy sons and grandsons are the building blocks of our herd. We never AI'd until this past fall (2 Flees does to Bucky Jr.). We also have had 2 Bucky daughters, and still have a High Roller daughter, a Redoy Jordan doe, and a Peach daughter. Out of these does and a few from newer lines we have produced 10 of 13 3 year olds over 200" in 2010 and last fall 10 of 12 over 200 with 4 over 300 and one that scored 480". Add to that 2 year old brothers that went 205 and 285". Our "old" line does are not leaving the farm.

i too breed with some old school genetics that involce genetics from both mickey goodman and dave creegan whic work great for me this year i had my bigest buck we ever raised out of a line bred doe with mickeys genetics over bomax which is maxbo over goodman genetics which produced a 7x8 main frame 2 yr old with a total of 26 point which went over 200 inches and im gonna continue to breed this way this year i bred the mother of this buck to 30.5 inch buck which kaibob over an elijah doe which should clash well if u go to antlers bar and lounge page eleven u will see an article mickey wrote about hid blood lines

I think a few of what we will be breeding a few does to this fall might qaulify ?

We also just bought a buck that is.......Poncho/Thunder/Patrick 111 (Blazers Mom & Hurricanes womb) We will see what summer has in store for him!

i have also breed with and have

goodman blood in alll my white tails i got a buck fawn from micky this fall and he had 1 and a half inches or hard horn im very pleased with this bloodline and there is credit do where it should be if you have any worries just look up mic s blood lines and they speak for them self im glad to have his blood so strong in my deer people need to get real i need some one to tell me when these deer have to be 250 to 300 ins at one and twoto be good bucks they need time to grow they all dont grow the same wish they did we would all be rich heheheh

i know if anyone is interested in bringing back some of mickey goodmans oldschhol genetics he has one hell of a buck called justice that should score around 300 " and if not mistaken he has semen out of him i beleive he is 4 yrs old now but he is based off of mickeys linebreeding of his own farm genetics which have done great in the north and south

Last fall I AI'd with Redoy Bill. I plan on using Redoy Jordan and Uno with in the next couple of years. Uno is one of those old school Goodman bucks.

I guess it all comes down to what you are breeding for. We love predictability of big wide frames, so much of our herd is from Barkley Young. He's been consistently producing some of the best framed deer in the country for years.

And you know we are outside of the box Wayne!

I agree Rusty that Barkley and Cole deserve more respect for their incredible production of big wide frames. On the other hand, I kinda like the fact that there aren't more people jumping all over this... it's actually given me a head start by a couple of years!

Thanks for the compliments Virgil on the old school Ratchet/Goodman foundation. I'm still using the same bloodline after 29 years. I've recently added artificial insemination to my herd and are only using bucks out of the Ratchet/Goodman line. For instance, I've AI'd with the following sires: Green 28, Too Tall, Eliajh, Texas Tea and Weatherby jr. And I've even went back as far as putting Uno back on top of some of my doe. Thanks to people like Andy Foor, Barkley Young, Dave Creegan and Michael Heiter and many other PA deerfarmers, this bloodline is still going strong. I've posted two examples of what this bloodline is still doing for my herd on antler bar and lounge sheds category. Thanks for looking. Hope everyone has an upcoming prosperous year!!

Mick / Gaylen, You guys talk about Uno, I have a Flip over Uno doe I would like to know more about Uno if you guys know were I could get pictures and onfo about him I would appreciate any info.

Cassie, Uno was owned by Mickey Goodman, Barry Mcgrew, and Chad Machart. He was used in Iowa for many years. Uno didn't you produce many sons but the does have done well for both Barry and Chad. When I visit their farm and see a large framed, long tined, typical buck it usually has Uno somewhere in the mothers pedigree. Uno is definitely one of those sleeping giant that will be be awakened on my farm in the near future.



I will pm you Barry and Chad's number. And hopefully Barry and Mickey will chime in also.

As far as Uno goes, a lot of people don't like to hear his genetic background. Uno's sire and dam were both from PA Game Commission deer out of the wild. Eight years of breeding and crossing Pennsylvania's wild deer, this was the start of some of the best blood line out there. Another Pennsylvania Game Commission blood line is Ratchet and Redoy Ben; both are examples of line breeding wild animals. Ratchet and Redoy Ben, twin brothers, are another example of my line breeding of Pennsylvania Game Commission deer. I've even went as far as contacting Chad Machart and purchased 10 straws of Uno semen which I've AI'd back into my existing herd and have been line breeding Uno back on top. This blood line has produced some of the best bucks in the country. Our line is continuously producing 200 to 300 inch bucks. I've added a picture of Uno as a 3 yr old. Not only was he one of the biggest bucks in the country when he was sold to Barry McGrew, he also had the body to go along with it. Recently I've donated two straws of Justice semen which goes back to Uno, to the West Virginia Deer Farmers Spring Benefit. Justice scored 300+ as a five year old. Along with Justice, I've donated a live breeding to a 2 year old, 7x7, true 7x7 main frame, split brow, 3 drop tines, that grossed 210 to the West Virginia Spring Benefit. Along with pedigrees and pictures these will be posted on Whitetail Exchange in the very near future. Mick / Gaylen, Thanks for the info I also talk to Jerome Foti who I purchased the doe from. all you guys pretty much told me the same info, Looks to me he was a really good deer. I have three up coming yearling bucks from this doe. She was bred to Jerome Patrick and this year I bred her to my yearling breeder buck Shadowgrass and she is huge again this year. if she drops a doe this year I will breed her doe fawn with one of those yearling bucks. half brother to half sister.

if there are any douths of micks bloodlines or mick i can tell you all i have got deer from mick and have never met many people that are as help ful or help later with deer problems you may have and stands behind what he says and in dealing with mick we have became friends he is as strait up as you will ever find in the country he has got a few doe off me all i have got some from him i got a botton buck from him with inch and a half botton and great body size cant wait till fall ratchet blood is all i have here and iseen so many big framed big bodyed deer from this breeded thats what m going to keep here go see micky farm if your not happy with mick and his family and deer there is no farm that ever will if everyone was as nice and helpful as goodman whitetail haven we would all get along thanks micky for all the help
