I was looking through the old threads trying to see if the buck Heavy was indeed heavy.  Lake Effect and his sisters are getting huge.  His two sisters are 1 YOA and are now the largest bodied doe on the farm and I had one momma that was pretty big.  Maybe she passed it on since she was the mom.  I've seen Big Heavy and Rigid in person but I can't remember looking at their body.  Anyone know how big Heavy or Big Guy was?

I talked with Gene years ago about body size. It was something to which he never paid attention. I don't remember verbatim what he said but it was something like, the horns will look bigger to the hunter if the deer has a smaller body. I would look at the Patrick doe on the bottom side of Rigid for the source of the body size. The mother is much more influential on body size than the father.

The biggest bodied deer I ever saw were out of the old Scott Turner herd. I think it was the Bucksnort stuff. I have seen enormous bodied Loner, Pa Geronimo, and Patrick crosses consistently. I love big bodied deer and they are important to my breeding program. Body size is a subject that I often ask about when inquiring about a buck that I like.

The biggest bodied deer I ever saw was at Hollow Road Whitetails. Big heavy there was over 400lbs@3 and over 400 on the head. Danial grew some big deer

In the hard antler photo thread check out the body on the buck posted in post #27. He was the longest bodied and tallest buck I have ever seen. He is the last buck we had that hit 400lbs. He was a hand taller than any other buck in his pen and as big around as a 55 gallon drum. He had a head, ears and stature of a mule deer.

Evolution and Tonto were said to both be over 400# deer... Also my biggest bodied doe is a Evolution yearling.

I think SunStroke ( formerly Wideout) was advertised at over 400 # last year.

I talked to Daniel himself. Wideouts womb was big heavy. Both deer were over 400lbs just big heavy was at 3 and sunstroke @ 4

I think back in the day...Big Ben was rather large. I've seen fawns of his that are as big as adult does by winter and as big as 2 yr old bucks in spring 300+ inches of horn that looked small on him

The Big Heavy in my bucks pedigree is from Mountain Ridge Whitetails.  Some good info, keep it coming!
