I have a 3 y/o buck that I noticed slobbering slightly yesterday evening.

Today he have froathy slobber hanging from his mouth, heavy breathing, and seem's confused.

Could this just be pneumonia from the heat, or should I assume it more serious.

If it is EHD and its this early, do I have any treatment options???

Any help at all would be great. This is a very important buck.

Thanks

I have never seen a deer with EHD first hand, however based on what my good friend from TX has described to me, that does sound like EHD. I know that Draxxin is worth its weight in gold, I hope some of the more experienced EHD crusaders chime in with some tips.

Banamine for fever , Dex for the internal bleeding, Zactran or Draxxin for Antibiotics. Ill let your vet advise on the dosage and regularity, best of luck Jason..

Sounds exactly like what we went through. We just lost one to EHD this last week, 30 hours after we started the "treatment". I know many die but there are some that survive as well. The vet treatment was as follows: 2cc Dex, 3cc Draxxin, and another 3cc Banamine. The Dex everyday for a week (at least), the Draxxin was every other day for a week, and the Banamine I do not know as the decision to add this med came directly before she passed and she never received her first dose of it.

Just had a two year old buck get over EHD and we did nothing to him.

Had a 3 year old doe that died 2 weeks ago with EHD.

The only thing I have done is add BulletProof to the feed, not sure if it helped on the buck or not. I know one thing is I will not get rid of that buck without breeding with him, maybe he can pass the gene to his offspring.

All of the deer look much better this year then last, I think due to the BulletProof

How long have you been feeding Larry's product? And were these deer on Bulletproof? How many deer do you have on your farm? Sorry for all the questions, im curious as Im using Bulletproof as well,Jason

Jason, I have around 20 head here at my home farm that have been on Bulletproof all summer. I have to say that they are all helthy as can be. I also have a few more on a farm 20 mile's from me that were not on Bulletproof, all animal's at both farm's are getting the same feed, same wormer. The doe's that were not on Bulletproof are more ran down from this heat and a couple of them look quite poor. I started them on it a couple day's back.

Is he not now a carrier & able to pass EHD on to other deer?

what is the web address for bulletproof ? and price ? thanks

Larry doesn't have a website up just yet. If you want more information about Bulletproof, I'd contact Larry directly. He's a great guy full of knowledge. We've been using Bulletproof for about 5 months with great results!!

Just remember whatever is in larrys product will not do anything for ehd (Per Larry himself) I think a healthy deer has a better chance to fight ehd so reguardless if its larry,Shock Effect or any other probiotic it sure cant hurt them. I will probably never deal with ehd but alot of farmers i have spoken to that have had it now do nothing for them(Hard to say im sure) If they beat it they are lucky i guess but what i have heard is you can throw the sink at them but if they get it full blown, They are history reguardless of what we do!! In todays world you would think they could find something to battle this crap.

Well said Mike, keep your deer as healthy as possible. I believe in probiotics year round.

What is everyones thoughts about the deer which survive EHD becomming the reservoir or carrier of the virus?

I have been using Larry's product also this year and I have seen the health of my deer expand a whole lot. I haven't had any EHD problems yet also. It seems to be working at my farm really well

Do you think its because of the product that you have not had ehd this year? Has anyone in your area had ehd without the product?

I have been using Bullet Proof for about a year now and I can tell you it has made a SIGNIFIGANT impact on the overall health and well bieng of my animals. I feel it has also helped my deer deal with this unreal heat and drought we have been dealing with here. It iis NOT supposed to be this hot in Missouri for this long. I have also noticed my deer are not bothered with flies.I have sprayed my pens.........but have in the past only to still deal with flies. I have also seen first hand scrapes, cuts and dings on my bucks antlers.............only to see VERY minimul blood and very rapid recovery and healing of that area of the antler.

With talking to many farms in southern states that have thier herd on Bullet Proof I'm hearing the same type of things from them also.

I believe a healthy herd is a very important part of it.............But I aiso know a MANY a folk who have had EHD...............wipe out a LARGE portion of thier HEALTHY herd.

I believe Larry Shefield has a product that helps me maintain a healthy herd but also gives me a little piece of mind knowing that there is alittle extra in his product and that to me adds great value in adding it to my deers daily diet!

Larry is also a VERY knowledgeable about the products contained in his product and how they work. And a GREAT guy to deal with!

I just think it has kept the deer healthy and their immune system seems to be up. There has been some EHD cases in my area twice this year.

Larry and I have been talking for a couple months now about me becoming a dealer for Bullet Proof. We finally came to an agreement. I will be covering Oklahoma,Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Any body interested in ordering Bullet proof these states please contact me in the future for the product.

I can be reached on my cell# at 318-265-2955 or email at [email protected] or [email protected]. Thanks

It seems interesting that people will spray to kill the vectors & treat symptoms with meds & suppliments, yet allow potential reserviors/carriers of this virus to remain in or near the herd.

Has there been an increase in cases of EHD each year?

Is everyones thoughts ,once a deer no longer has clinical symptoms, it's no longer infectious?

Yes, the virus, can also winter in cattle & other species, would you run your deer with a cow knowing it carried EHD?
