Feeding Wild Deer

Dear John, high number of does equals less bucks where I am. Harvest high number of does equals more food and habitat for bucks, and more intense rutting action. I am sorry you don't see as many deer as you would like.

take your tent or treestand Easter egg hunting how many will you get.

I have never hunted from a tent but, WTF,easter egg's dont travel or feed or do much of anything that deer do. I just dont see how easter egg's could have anything to do with deer.

But I sure would like to know the proper method to deer hunt that is real hunting.

And if you are talking about spot and stalk being real hunting, that's for western deer. We have tree's here and a stand work's just fine.

Now I get it. I was wondering what wtf meant. thought maybe it was a type of egg.

Hunting is whatever you make of it! Do you call a rifle that will shoot over 500 yards hunting? A bow hunter might not! Do you consider hunting open country where you can see 500 yards hunting? A hunter from the South may not because he can usually see only 30 yards.

If you hunt with a stick or rock you have the right to call what someone else is doing not hunting. Otherwise, I will enjoy hunting however I see fit and let others do the same. Everything you do is to try to gain an edge but the deer usually wins.

We have a man here who only hunts with a spear, or so he says, but he has never killed a whitetail. Maybe he is the only hunter or fool left, depends on how you look at it.

Deerchaser you agree-ed with me in your first 7 words.

Dearjohn,

Why are you on these threads trying to stir up trouble? it is so obvious by all your posts that you are looking for a fight. I truly do pray that you find peace through OUR great Lord! You know he was the greatest hunter of ALL TIME.......he was a hunter of men! This being said, he would use many different ways to hunt.......sometimes sitting and waiting.....sometimes walking and searching. Anyhow, while I respect your opinions on what you think hunting should be....so should you respect others opinions on what they feel hunting is........the fact of the matter is there is no right or wrong answer only your personal preference on how you like to hunt. I just went Hunting yesterday......yes I had my beagle and I had my son........and we had an awesome time together......call it what you may......but I know one thing.....I wouldn't take that day of hunting together with the ones I love enjoying Gods creations in the outdoors back for anything! Hunting is done in many different ways and has always been that way.......both you and I may each have our different ways of how it should be done but that doesn't make either of us right or wrong.......just enjoy the fact we have the blessing of being able to hunt and leave it at that! I wish you and everyone on here many more days of hunting no matter what method you use as long as it is ethical!

RLAwhitetails you ever hunt rabbits without a dog. thats hunting. Is that simple enough for you.

Dearjohn I do not rabbit hunt, I do deer hunt and love to do it. I do not hunt over bait unless you call a 80 acre field bait. I do not even deer hunt with a gun, it's bow only for me. I have killed two booner's with the bow, both of them were from the ground, I hate hunting from the ground but had no choice on those deer. I do not have a problem with those that do hunt with a gun or hunt over bait. I just like to hunt, not kill. I have no idea how many animal's I pass before I even draw on a deer. This year I never even took the bow off the hanger while I was in the tree, I still had fun HUNTING just didnt see a animal that I wanted to KILL.

P.S. this is my last post on the subject

have a good day dearjohn and a happy new year. was only asking what you call real hunting, thats all.

Well if he is trying to spear a dear at the corn pile, that's

not what I would call hunting either. lets legalize pitfalls. When is it not hunting.and just food gathering.

Not sure why your answering my question with a question.......but in my state it is not legal to shoot either of them over any kind of bait pile! So not sure where you are going with your question? Dear John back in the days when people had to HUNT to survive........do you not think they used any means necessary ( including baiting) to get their game? I am guessing that when you go fishing you don't use bait because if you do it's not really fishing right? You probably only use lures. I can certianly respect the fact that you have a certain way you like to hunt.......but you should share that same respect for others and the way they choose to hunt....as long as they are abiding by all of the laws. Just my opinion.

no I do not have to respect the way other people do things. If I spell it out for ya ,then your thinkin mussel won't get any exercise.

Your a wonderful person dear John.........you got a great way of thinking.......not to certain you even have a mussel to exercise up there after reading your posts! Have a good one!! Try to chill a little too!!
