Well that was short lived  Went to check on my best buck fawn born 2 days ago  He's gone no trace of him , looked for 5 1/2 hours .

They sometimes go thru the gate cracks, look outside the pens real good.spotlight if you have too at night.put mesh or cattle panel at sides and bottom.

I looked for a doe fawn I tagged for 3 days last year. Finally I was out there and saw her walking behind her mom. Don't give up yet they are sneaky little boogers.

He will be back in the morning, happened to me twice last year.

I hope you are right , i am so sick , i think i am going to throw up , or and cry.

Happened to me last year. Got mine back. Best suggestion I have is go out right at the crack of daylight. You should hear him bleating for his momma

It happens !!! Was there a way he could of gotten out ? Cracks ?

Yes I have one small section of fence that was some of the first i had put up that had bigger squares in it he may have went threw there . Only 2 days old i would not think he would have . i looked all around on the out side . Getting ready to go back out with a spotlight .

If he out runs you ...get a fishing pole catchers net and catch him....you should not have to do that .....just in case.....some at 2 days old can run...

Jamie, was the wind blowing to the doe s face on the side of fence she was pacing ? She might can smell him to tell you which direction to look. What about bobcats or owls or hawks? Its a real possibility. I try to keep mine thinned down . I hope he turns up.

That is amazing i walked and crawled over 5 acers for 5 1/2 hours , went in to eat supper , and cry :). Went back out with a spot light , and there he was nursing on momma just like he never left . I think i spazzed out there for a little bit .:D

go get a couple rolls of chicken wire and hog ring that to the botttom of the existing fence, he will never get through that!

Way to go Jamie! Glad he is back and i know the feeling. Had the same thing happen last but i found him in the Buck pen of all places laying in some high clover. But i defiantly know the state of panic.LOL
