Hunting Market

Geeze robert that is bad newz for a guy just startin out but im sure you are 100% on what you say. I have been lied to twice so far and by some that have been in deer for along time.A guy better do his homework if he thinks he is gunna come in and grow fast and better have deep pockets also.Hopefully the new guys are like me and got in for the love of deer and if i dont sell any i wont starve thats for sure.Hopefully we wont see this go by the wayside but with lots of deer and lots of preserves growin their own prices will go down!!!!

On here i have only heard how terrible the market is right know, over saturated, not getting your money out of it, and that in a nut shell its hard out there. I go and visit farms and talk to other deer farmers outside this forum and they are having the best year ever, moving any deer they want, for prices they want, and some have cut there herds in half. What are these guys doing different? What do these guys have that we, us, you, dont? Better Genetics? Better marketing or sales? What i dont know. Bottom line is there is a system out there that is working for some. We all just need to learn it!

No doubt it will work for those who did their homework and got some great deer. Bottom line is you will get out what you put in and you better have some start up cash to get in the game.If you have outdated animals you will get nothing.Like some say on here they are eating some pretty good bloodlines.

The other way i look at this is the market is down, but i look at auction results that tell me other wise. Shooters are not moving but how many of us are still buying deer? And for considerable amounts. Your right in business you have to spend money to make money.But you do not have to spend 10s of thousands of dollars to compete. There is semen out there from great looking bucks at around a thousand dollars. There are still great does with nice genetics close to 3,000. And not to start a fight here but alot of the negitive stuff on here i bet are from guys that are strateling the fence here. If they would just take the next step i think that they would open so many more doors for themselves. If your not growing your dead in the water. I guess what im trying to here is it is what your going to make it. If you have trouble moving your deer, check out your herd what is something that you could do this year that could send you into a hole nother market? AI? selective breeding? TB Bruce testing to expand out of state? Advertise more? Go to more meetings and auctons? Just my thoughts and my apoligies if i have affended anyone not my intentions.
