I Need Your Input

Mike,

I am sure he has fawns as he had 7 deer breed to him on his doe sale list for last year. Plus whatever was backed up by him.

Is it unfair to ask for a buck and doe fawn, sellers pick out of the breeding on the doe side, but with the back up buck being the sire?

I actually had basically the same thing happen on 2 does, one was a yearling (not this one I am speaking of), the doe was advertised as having Quad AI fawns the previous year. So she had already taken AI

Well that imo would be a tough call. You did not say how old she was. Of course most first timers have a single fawn. If it was me (And most i would say) in this case and i had 7 others bred to the same buck you would get one of each out of something from that sire.

I would find it very hard to believe they wont at least give you your choice of *** out of one of those 7 to make a happy buyer....

The doe is/was a 2year old "breed" doe.

Yes I would say I should at least get choice *** out of one of the does. I would be ok with that. But when the seller put back at me that I could have one out of his upcoming yearlings I was a little thrown back. That is why I made to post, I've met some great people in the short time I've been around the industry but This particular guy doesn't seem to care about the "small" guys.

Well that does suck and your unhappy words of mouth to people you deal with will not help his future business at all. There seems to be a few in every crowd i guess!

Chris - don't you think as a co-worker of Todd's, you would side with him keeping commission whether it's truly the right thing to do or not?

Look at it like this:

So I sold a $500,000 house with an Agent. They did their job, right? Now comes time for getting financing, inspections, etc. Something happens that prevents this sale from being closed outside of the Agent's control. Do you think I still need to write a check to the Agent for $35,000. No, of course not nor do they expect payment.

In this situation, was the customer asked what he wanted to do. Maybe he would accept an animal from a similar breeding. In the end when you side with your customer's wishes, they will have the confidence to come back and buy from you again. Plus, would you rather have this person speaking highly of you or just how wronged they felt for being forced into something. In the end, you have to live with yourself.

No I don't think that, obviously you don't know me! Nor is it right for you to assume or post such a thing here!

1. I work for Whitetail Quest....

2. IM A DEER FARMER WITH MY OWN OPINION!

3. I don't lie or stretch the truth for ANYONE!!!!! (Todd may have started this thread/question, but Im talking about all auctions)

I was talking like a deer farmer that has every right to express my opinion on an open forum. I also was speaking on how I would feel if I offered choice fawns out of a bred doe that I sold at an auction, if that doe didn't have the choice that the buyer wanted I would ask if we could make something else work, if not......I would feel it right to refund the buyers money as well as pay the auction company for the work they did.

And as for your example of selling a $500,000 home.....Sorry but very bad example! If financing or inspection didn't go through then the sale was not completed.....No final agreement reached, Of course no money would exchange hands!

Selling an unborn fawn the sale is completed, generally 25% has been paid to the auction company, they have paid out 15% to the seller. Months have passed since the agreement was made and paid. But now because the seller's doe didn't have the fawn the buyer wanted, the auction company is to blame?

And to be clear I speak for myself and myself only (All American Whitetails)these thoughts/words are not Whitetail Exchange, Quest or Apple Creek's Whitetails.
