What would make me have so many single fawns this year???? Does that normally have twins and trips even just had singles........out of 12 doe two had twins and the rest had singles........one that was ai'd had twins and one that was live bred had twins...........the others were mixed ai'd and live bred and all had singles.......any thoughts????

My understanding is your not the only one having tons of singles. Many I have spoke with are having the same thing and not with just A/I does but all of them.

Also I am hearing of really lopsided *** ratios.

I have 5 does that are all Lap AI...all had single big fawns. Only 1 buck out of them all. Anyone want any doe fawns??

It is really weird...........I thought maybe it had something to d with the harsh winter that we had,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I guess we will never know why.........

I ve had 4 does have multiple births and one more will have multiple birth anytime now. 3 of these does were first time mothers. 2 does AI d one had trips and other twinned. 8 fawns so far 6 bucks 2 does. Three does left to fawn only one is AI though.

well JBC that sounds more like the norm....the way it is supposed to be....I am glad some people are having multiple births this year.....

i had 15 fawns, 9 doe,6 buck from 8 does, only one single, other 7 had twins normal year for me. Although I wish i did have an even number of buck/doe like i usually doe. Mine were all live bred. But i have heard of more singles than usual with AI guys,

yeah there is good in everything if you look for it...and yea the singles usually are bigger and healthy!!

i had twins out of evrerything ai and live covered but my buck to doe ratio was rediculous 6 does and only 2 bucks my bucks come from 2 different aied does 4 does from live breeding 2 does from ai my. does from live breeding last year threw me a total of five bucks

Dennis ,it had to be your weather.Up north we had the mildest winter ever. Some of you southern guys got more snow in a day then we got all winter.I have 9 sets of twins and 4 single births and 3 moms to go.13 bucks and 9 does. We got 2 albino buck fawns and 1 albino doe fawn.Does any one out there have any albino deer.I have no clue on value.

Dennis I think the winter theory is it! They know how much fat to put on. Their hair is longer on deer that have to deal with harsher conditions. It was a wet colder winter down here in la than in recent years! They know before we know! That's the way our Father created them! I guess with all this global warming we should all be having triplets every year!

We ai'd 11, one aborted early ..we are at day 200 today... waiting on one to gladiator due anyday... .. of the 7 others that have fawned 3 of them had singles .. we have had 8 buck fawns and 5 doe fawns... we had this same singles problem last year.... i know another farmer that had this problem last year amd was told to decrease his percentage of protein in his feed , so he did starting last august and said he saw a lot fewer singles this year...??

Very good to know Triple R Whitetails..........I will have to take that into consideration this year......I fed all my deer the same feed bucks and does up until a couple of months ago.......now I feed the bucks one type and the does another....this works a lot better as the does and bucks need different things at different times of the year.

I had this single problem three years ago. I was feeding a 22% protein pellet at the time. We quit the high protein pellet as the cost was killing me. Went with a grain feed at about 17% protein. Last year we had all twins and this could have been my problem. I have feed the same all last year and the does look like they will twin.

Roger and I talked about this on the forum at that time. Roger suggested another hormone be added and I have done just that for the last two years. I'm not sure which helped the problem but I'm leaning to the high protein feed as the problem.

I do love these forums for these types of reasons........It does sound to me like the high protien may have something to do with it............ok those of you that have had twins and trips for the most part this year what was your protien % that you fed your does?

Out of twenty five fawns, all but three have been does. No singles, two triplets and the only one left had quad buck fawns last year. Odds are good that I will have more triplets and quads this year, than I've had in the last ten. We mix our own feed and don't have an exact %. I would say that the protein spring and summer is pretty high, fall and winter is considerably lower. This being my favorite deer subject, if anyone wants to shoot the **** about it, give me a call. {not Virgil, don't want to talk about goats} lol Oh, by the way the last two years I've had almost all buck fawns. Don't have a clue.

We had a 2yr old first time mother ai'd & she gave us a single buck fawn. Both of our other does gave us a buck & doe. Total of 5 fawns - 3 bucks & 2 does.
