Today, my white buck finally shed his antlers! does anyone else have bucks running around with their racks yet or does ****** win the prize? Is this a normal thing for white deer? He even runs slow!!

Ran a few farms the other day and there are a few antlers still on yet. We had our last one drop his cut off buttons yesterday.

I was getting a little nervous because he didn't shed his cut-offs last year. His rack grew around the cut-offs and for awhile he looked pretty odd. For a month he had "pancakes" on top of his head but finally it grew into a 7 point. I would have done something but I didn't know what until it was too late. The sheds look normal except the bases are big.

one left small two year old, still a couple buttons on the yearlings, we should be about two weeks behind the banana belt.

For whatever reason, not bragging, well maybe. But all of ours have shed, with 6 out of 10 mature bucks past their G-1's. Button bucks are about an inch high on average. This is the earliest we have EVER started.

Couple of years ago we had a yearling shed April 7. He caught up within two weeks and was the biggest two year old. So who knows?

reed i seeing inch.on my two yr old, couple days ago didnt see that.love to see that black. i was tickled after all his late breeding.i didnt think he would ever shed.i hope all his extra ciricular activity dont affect him, rut wore him down but he look good now.

He should be fine. Just keep the feed coming, and keep him wormed. They are fixin to take off.

I have an elk and he has not shed his cut offs yet.....should I be concerned? I don't have much experience with elk......are they different or should he have shed by now?? How long should I let it go?

I will quess that your elk is a young one. The older they get, the sooner they shed and start growing. Which stands to reason as they have more bone to put on the head and all the bulls seem to finish around the same time frame. My oldest bull is 11 and he shed Feb. 25th, but I still have 4 bulls that will be 2 this year and none of them have shed yet.

My elk must have been listening too me talking about putting him down to take his cutoff antlers off because he just popped them both off in the last two days!
