So I am trying to learn all I can about this business. (As I plan to join the ranks of you guys) Talking to friends in the hunting industry and trying to get their point of view. I have been a hunting guide in the western states for 15 yrs and know alot of people that are well respected and well known in the industry. I talked to a very well know person and TV personality and asked him what he thought about raising deer. This is what he told me. " Seems as though the farmers that are doing this can't raise enough giant whitetailes." So what do you guy's think? Are things starting to look up?? Thanks ....... Jim....

I think Mike hit the nail on the head all in one paragraph. Most of the good ground is leased up and the slob hunters have pissed off the rest of the landowners so they post the rest. I think most of the good outfitters are about full and are fighting the draws for gun buck tags. The way the country has made such a push to try and kill off all the does in the name of better quality deer, more public hunting opportunities, and feeding the hungry is another thing. If you keep shooting record numbers of does that are bred with a future buck and doe in there belly, pretty soon your not going to have as many deer to hunt, period. Places where you can rifle hunt are few and far in between and with todays fast paced lifestyle's few people have the time to bowhunt. If you ask about anyone, on average, hunters in most states aren't seeing as many deer as they used to, way too much hunting pressure and its getting worse all the time. Then throw in some EHD, wolves, mountain lions in the mix like Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, etc. and wipe out what deer are left and pretty soon there's not much left. It's a fact, private landowners who want more and better deer can and will manage wildlife bettter then any state or gov't agency. Build a fence not to keep the deer in but to keep the gov't out. Most of the people who are against high fence ranches are opposed to any commercial hunting, if you told them you wanted to get rid of some extra bucks in your preserve for free, they would be there the next morning with cammo and ammo.
