Need help asap

Had a lot of different issues with fawns over the years but this is unreal

I have a little buck fawn

the other day he had fly larva, very small but a lot of them all over him

I cleaned him up, cut the hair around his tail and pooper and all seemed well

This morning I went to feed and knew something was very wrong when he didn't come running

He is covered in maggots

Comming out of his but and it seems like they are focused around his ambilical cord and *****

I wormed asap, anitbiotics and cleaned all of them off.

His ambilical cord and ***** seem very swollen and he isn't eating very low energy

WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT????

330-448-7764 please help

Bring him in out of the fly environment, keep him clean of maggots/larvae, and give him draxin every other day for at least 3 times or until he shows sign of comin around. That's all I know to do...never seen it before...never heard of it before, but it sounds like maybe some flys might have layed their larvae in and around the embiblical cord before it got a chance to dry maybe?...I don't know. Good luck with him, maybe/hopefully somebody has seen this before and can direct you better! Mark

Caltron IV---Soak him down it will kill all the maggots etc. And bring him inside.

Catron best to use, but if it's not to late don't forget to get soom into the ears and soak into the hock area. The larvae will be hard to see in the eares but most likely they will be there. There is a reason the flys have picked on this little guy, they seem to detect when something is wrong well before we see it. If you suspect internal larvae try a ivimec enima with small amount in about 2".

I think I may have the same problem as you. One of my buck fawns

has a swollen lump under each eye with what looks like an entry wound. Then on his back near his ribcage there is a small hole. I thought I could see movement within the hole. Otherwise he seems healthy, no weight loss or loss of appetite. We've darted him with antibiotics but I think were still going to have to capture him and inspect the wounds, flush, clean and pack with Swat. Should I give mine an invermectin injectable while we have him down?

You can also try Nix (lice Shampoo) do not water it down use straight with cue tip we have found flies nats and flees do not like it if you know someone who sells Avon rub him down with skin so soft the flies will stay off him it works good for skeeters and ticks to

Deer Dee, going by your desciption, It sounds as if your buck has a warble. My dog just had one, it is simbly a large larva of a botfly, burrows in and eats at the flesh. Just use a sterile scalple and cut it out , dress the wound with antibiotic
