We caught this one trespassing but we decided to let her stay. Didn't have the heart to run her off!!

What's our liability here John.

Wow John !! In the past, I would have lit your butt up like a Christmas tree for a comment like that. BUT, I am trying hard to be a better Christian. This prompts me to just let you have your opinion on things and I will continue to have mine. I wish you the best.

As far as the dogs go, my wife trains with/for many of the local police departments and their dogs. Consequences are not something I am concerned about. For the most part, IF our dogs would ever bite someone, they would probably be laughed at by law enforcement for being an idiot and provoking an issue.

good way to get yourself shot ,or put in jail. no call for deadly force.

John, You or ANYONE ELSE comes to my farm and harasses my deer...............We will see WHO runs the risk of getting SHOT!

Dear John........I will not except the ignorance of people any longer.......It has been AT MY COST to date.....but that will happen no longer........If someone is tresspassing on private property that is clearly posted.....and they get bit by a dog......They deserve IT!! If they come to my home and respectfully ask to see the deer....I will be happy to give them a tour......

can't find where it says sick the dogs on the curious . help me out here will ya.

first to be a ethical farmer and keep your herd protected . You would put up shade cloth along the road fence so your deer wouldn't get hurt. or is it more important to spend that money on more deer.

I never said anything about sicking a Dog on the curious......i said tresspassers getting bit while on private property ......big difference....they are the ones in the wrong........they are the ones doing the tresspassing......its not like i would go looking for them to sick my dogs on them.......use your head a little bit here Dear john for something other than a hat rack....Please!!:p

people stopping to look at deer with large racks are doing it because they are curious. They are not trying to cause harm. There I spelled it out for ya.

dearjohn - ''Curious'' yes, no doubt...but also ''criminal'' in the trespass.

I'm no lawyer, but I would wager(and hope) that if someone walked by an OBVIOUS no trespassing sign or signs, and then got bit by the owners dog while on the ''wrong side of the sign'', that there would be no liability on the dog owners part.

Certainly a ''Beware of Dog'' sign in addition to the ''No Trespass'' sign would cinch the case up concerning the alleviation of liability.

Jack Oliver - lol

I hear, understand, and very much appreciate your struggle, ie ''trying hard to be a better Christian'', when it comes to holding one's tongue. It's not easy sometimes, at ALL! :)

well Dear John it is very apparent you never had a big buck worth thousands of dollars or valuable doe for that matter....either injured badly or worse yet killed from a stranger walking up to your pens.....when that happens..... I can promise you.....your take on this matter will be different......how's that for spelling it out for you?!

John,When you speak the TRUTH................You don't have to sound tuff! I have and ALWAYS said I would go to jail or die to protect the things I hold near and dear to me and what I believe in!

I for one can not control what goes on in the world..........But on MY 40 acre farm..........I'm the BULL in the woods here............I DON"T dial 911 and it's said best like this ..............

"THIS HOUSE IS PROTECTED BY THE GOOD LORD AND A GUN...........SHOW UP UNWELCOMED AND YOU WILL MEET THEM BOTH"!

And as far as YOU calling anyone an "IDIOT"...................CHECK OUT the one in YOUR mirror!:)

Dearjohn, "Be as good as the best and better then the rest " Sounds like you put yourself on a level above everyone else. Looks to me like you are just looking for an arguement.

The word is spelled MAYBE, since you didn't know. Yes we have a leash law, but that does not pertain to your own property. Leash laws are for outside your property. Someone that has an invisible fence, isn't required to have the animal on a leash. I just explained to you the training that our dogs get. Training like that doesn't get done on a leash. Apparently you are someone that is terrified of dogs. You should be.

My dogs are trained way better than any dog on the police force. Like I said before, police dogs are our rejects. So, I guess you or anyone else can choose to be bitten by my dog, a highly trained animal that lets go when I tell him too, or a police dog - a partially trained dog that doesn't know how to listen to commands. Either way, your getting bitten.

By the way, do you have deer? I have never seen any deerfarmer before that has pictures of horses as his avatar.

Jack glad you caught my spelling err . Look a little closer there is a deer in the picture.

You are liable if a person gets bit and you have no control of your dog. Does not matter if your dog is on your property or not.

You are welcome to show up on my property, take a good old fashion butt whippin from my dog, and then take me to court for tresspassing on my property. Sounds like you are so sure that I am in the wrong. Care to prove it? Feeling froggy? Then jump. Other than that, maybe you should mind your own business sometime and not tell people what they can and can't do. It is people like you why there is no prayer in schools, no spanking your kids and no respect for your neighbors.

I am sure it wasn't a spelling error. It was an idiot alert.

Like I said before, you can think whatever you want to think. You aren't worth anymore of my time. I owe you nothing and need to prove nothing. Have a nice day and good luck with your pigmy deer.

Dearjohn . in my exsperience I'd think you'd need to put shade cloth on all sides to protect our deer from people not only looking at them but walking into our property along the pens ,but then we can't see them or check up on them either the way we should . Wouldn't it just make more sense to keep them off the property ? How far should we as deerfarmers have to go to protect our animals , there has to be a limit ? Are we not free to do what we want on our own property without someone messing it up regardless how courious they are ? I would think that decent caring people's couiosity would be overwhelmed by KEEP OUT or NO TREASPASSING ! This couriousity killed the cat so to speak and it's killing our deer too , how much do we need to go out of our way to raise these animals. It's not like there's millions of dollars in this business to keep doing so much just to have the deer . I often times think we're already loosing enough money in feed , testings , fences, breedings and our time so how far is far enough ? Just asking .. What happened to respecting others property and just plain staying off without permission ? I too have given countless rides on the wagon on a bale of hay to many many people I don't even know but THEY ASKED !! Is that not fair enough ? Oh I just want to do my best and not compete with the rest !

I know these people they are called

"the public"

These are the same people who elected our current president....they unfortunaltly are the majority!

Dont figure

I said along the road fence didn't I. All you that love to argue said that signs don't do any good. Don't like shade cloth, plant pines. You said it yourself 1 prized deer is worth more then a little cloth or some pine trees. Heck straws go for more then that! I take care of dogs that bite. No wonder people get even with the likes of _ _ _. sicken killer dogs on people you should be ashamed.
