So far today I have had two does fawn, two fawning now and 4 others in various stages of labor. I'd say our AI program this year was pretty good...lol That means only 24 more to go. What the heck were we thinking

I had several single births this year from AI and natural breeding. I don't know why. Anyway did yawl use ICON for any backup or live breeding. I liked his look when he was at rusty,s. How is he looking this year?

Out of 3 AIs so far, we too had 2 does have singles and 1 doe had twins. Seems odd to me too.

Dont know if you guys used PMSG (folligon) at time of CIDR removal for AI does but its well worth the pennies it cost to use (In my opinion). I had 2 does that had singled every year until they fawned a week ago. Trips from one and twins from another. Twins out of another first time mother using it too. Only one more AI doe to fawn anyday now and will gaurentee you she has more than one fawn. Jeff

I have talked with several breeders that have had this happen at a higher rate this year from both AI and live breeding's. Maybe its due to some AI'ing doe's at to young of an age? Maybe Lap AI is affecting the doe's later in life? Maybe semen is just not as good of quality as it used to be? Maybe deer are bred to close these days and it has some affect on the reproduction? Maybe all the above?

Just guessing here but it does seem odd.

Michael, I got plenty of fawn space down here . Just let me know and I ll rent a semi and a come load 20 or 30 of em up and get em outa yer hair.LOL. Barbs upset anyway shes only got 2 doe fawns to bottle feed so far (the rest have been buck fawns). :) Loving the buck to doe fawn ratio this year. Looks like I owe Don Higgins a BIG thank you for his article on AI time after the CIDR removal and a big Thank You to the goat farmer just down the road who has done my AI work the past 2 yrs. Hes been 100% (knock on wood). Good luck man ! Jeff

I was told that useing PMSG year after year will cause a doe to build up antibodys the will have adverse affects on breeding. We will be talking to several vets to get a opinion about it.

La. Bone Collector, we did use Icon last fall. So far, we have had 4 does fawn giving us 8 buck fawns. Rusty told Steve last week that Icon is growing like crazy with mutiple brows and outside his ears by 2+ inches and still going out. We are very excitied to see what he will do this year. I'm hopeing that he will keep his clean look and just add inches to it. Alot to ask for I know. Thanks for asking. I'll post some pics later

Jeff, we have had a good buck to doe ratio so far too. But I still have 5 buck fawns on the bottle due to trips out of several does.

If you AI you probably already know that bumping up your dosage of pmsg increases the number of fawns. Maybe ill move mine next year from 1cc to 1.5 or 2 cc. What y'all think? I only used1.5cc in two does both were first time mamas. I got single out of one and twins from the other. I have an older Goliath/Mary doe had a single Sunny fawn. I was hoping for a girl as well. So far two Maxbo XL sons and one girl. One storm boy one girl. I have one doe that's scaring me today is 201 and nada. She is bagged heavy bred to storm? Fingers crossed.

I hear yah... 195 today. Already have 2 XL , 3 Danger, 3 Poncho, 3 Shadow, 2 Storm,2 Gladiator. The Gladiators(2 BUCKS) are out of a Maxbo/Maxin doe. Can't wait to see them next year.

Sounds like you got a plan. I'm going to try some 50/50 crosses myself this fall. Its been record hot for may it seems. It rained yesterday thank goodness. How bout okiehoma?

Okie homa is hot. Very hot for us. It's been 90 here the last two days. It's been dry this week but it was really wet last week. Good luck with your 50/50s. We are very excited to see what they will do. We bred 10 does to Texas bucks. 6 Gladiator,2 Fran, 2 Berrylicious of Berry Whitetails.

Can you tell if your 50/50's are smaller than usual or not? What do you think about hot shot or escalade? Oh and berrylicious is a great looking deer!! I couldn't afford five straws so I had to pass on him since that's the only way I perceived you could buy it!

Escalade is a great looking deer. I haven't notice any size difference in size yet. One today was 9+ pounds and the twins are 6 each.

I've had 5 does fawn at this point and have had only 6 fawns. Four of the does had singles. 2 were live bred and 2 were AI'd. Not sure either why we are having singles but i'm highly frustrated. Anyone got input on this?

This is the first year I've used PMSG and so far this has been my worst fawning season. My does got really fat as thought they would have multiples but 4 out of 5 so far have just had a single fawn. Not sure what to think.

Did you use PMSG,If so was this thier first time? If not the word on the street is most does build a resistance to it and you have to up the doseage about a 10th of a cc each year to help with multipule births. Haven't had any experience with singles on my A/I or live covers yet. But just what I hear!

Just had a single doe fawn out of Storm. That's the last of my AI! Had three does give singles out of AI. Had a couple live bred give singles. My deer were real healthy before breeding too! Since this was first time to AI, I will administer heavier dosage of PMSG this fall!

We went 70% on our AI's this year, 5 had twins 1 had trips and 1 had a single. Later found a second fawn fetus from the one that singled. We struggled getting our does tranq'd for the breeding (no facility). I'm sure our percentage would have been higher if we could have got them down better. We also had our tb testing this march, it was also a train wreck as 1/2 had to be redarted. I consider myself very lucky to have 70% especially after hearing how some other farmers are doing when everthing went smooth. I did learn a valuable lesson that won't be repeated. I tried to save a couple bucks per box of darts by not using tri-ports, I'm sure they would have gone down easier and the money wasted redarting would be money saved if I would have used tri-ports.

WE used PMSG on 11 does 4 of them were first time mothers which 2 of them had trips and one had twins and one had single. 10 of the 11 took to AI and we ended up with 20 fawns. We did have our first fawn not make it this year we were at church and came home she had just fawned and one was dead fully developed and she also had 2 underdeveloped dead babies they didn't have hair or anything yet but legs ears and ect.. was all there this was a first time for us. Our breeding seemed to be normal this year we had some triplets several twins and a couple of singles so we cannot complain.
