Ehd is different on each farm.
On my farm if they get tender on their feet first I can keep them alive. It's the ones that you go out in the morning and they are laying by their self and all fluffed up die within a day.
Like everyone has said KNOW your deer. If you think they look off at all. LOAD THEM UP WITH MEDICINE !
I also believe in the vaccine. The deer that have been on the vaccine for 2 years are still alive. Sick but still alive. I have had 2 bucks die that I believe it is my fault. Both of them when I darted with the vaccine the dart sprayed. I being lazy and dumb thought they had got enough. WRONG! Both dead. All 6 other bucks got good hits with the dart. ALL ALIVE! do the work spend the money and save your deer.
Trying to save $12 a buck and not shooting them again after a bad hit cost me a 190" 3 year old and a 170" 2 year old. Wish I had spent the $24!
