Does anyone use those misters like they have for the horses? It has been in the upper 90's and even over 100 here the last few days. Some of our pens have big shade trees and some don't. We do have shade fence up but in 3 of our pens it's just high (and low) grasses. No trees of any real size. I though about getting a mister or two for these pens to let the deer cool themselvs off in it if they like. My father-in-law said the dampness would attract more flies. Just wondered what you guys thought. Should I try one or no? Heck, it too hot for me and I just feel bad for them.

Thought about trying to use them myself before Woody. You're gettin that crazy heat we had here in Illinois a few days back, but know you have some relief comin. High of 73 here today. I believe your father-in-law is right, extra moisture will attract flies. Guess a guy would have to figure out if the extra flies would be worth it. In my opinion it likely would be. Since your mister will be confined to a relatively small area, the extra flies are apt not to be significant. I too feel bad for my deer during those hot days. During this last heat wave here they backed up on their feed a full 30%. I DO believe they would use a mister though. Curious about other's opinions.
