The new server for Whitetail Exchange is now up and running. We decided to split Whitetail Exchange and Whitetail Quest on two separate systems to more efficiently (get more speed and process more requests) handle the load of Wednesday Night No Reserve and Special Auction nights like the Internet Select Sale.
We completely overhauled the way the data is brought into Exchange. The pedigrees that come from Quest will load from a different server AFTER the entire auction page is loaded. In order to bid, you must first go to the Auction Page. Because of the changes made, all the bidding information is loaded first, and than the outside data (photos, video, pedigrees) is brought in. We will be applying the same for banners and any other information from 3rd parties.
We also addressed the issue of Sniping (the feature to extend auctions in the last 5 minutes). This was accomplished by upgrading to new software that had improvements to this area and also moving and upgrading to a new server that can handle more query requests as opposed to media events.
We also added additional functions (index features) to the database itself to help with cache for images, current bid levels and auction times.
One other item of mention, the area where you add your AUCTION DESCRIPTION has been fixed. When you hit return to add a space, a space will be added and so forth. We also tightened the security on this form as we saw some of the "coding" from cuts and pastes to this area also slowed down the database when it had to deal with foreign code it did not understand. So, when you use this feature and it does not allow you to "paste" in certain things, it is because we do not allow it anymore. Any questions, just call us.
There were many more things done and many more improvements coming. However, we will not know for sure until we get through our test tonight. All indications are pointing to a very positive result for tonight.
Thanks for your patience and please let us know if something is not working right or if you do not understand some of the new features. We will try to get instructional videos up to explain the changes in the upcoming days.
