2013 fawns popping out

I have 5 does and one breeder buck all in one pen 2 of the does seem ready to fawn just anyday. Should I be concerned the buck my try hurting the newborn fawns even though they have been raised together. This will our first fawning season and we are really excited.
I think he will be fine. I have did that before in the past. Actually my bucks were some what excited to see the new fawns. Just my experience. Every farm can be different.

And I have seen bucks get freaked out when the fawn goes under him.
Never had a mean buck yet that actually hurt a fawn. I have had does get mean and beat the crap out of a fawn though. Especially a doe who was born the previous year.

Having a little rest period here with fawning. Those who dropped fawns were all from does bought, and they had been A/I'ed earlier than my own herd. I suspect the next wave will be hitting any day now. Today marks day 192 for the next wave of girls and many are bagged or bagging.
Having a "SPECIAL DELIVERY" right now... PRIMETIME out of a Sudden Impact/Poncho doe. The doe is the mother to Missouri Whitetails buck By Design. Still in labor but, have a doe fawn so far. Good luck to all on the rest of fawning season.
Triplets!!! Two does and a buck fawn. Thanks again to Matt Kirshner and Jerry Campbell for selling 837 to us. Also, thanks to Curt Waldvogel for taking care of her last fall.

Wow congrats Michael, Full brother and sister to Texas Tea, that's exciting! Best of luck with them, I can't wait to see how much that buck fawn will resemble his brother in a few years.

Our first fawn of the year is out of a Numax doe and a Rebel son. The doe was still pushing afterwards so I thought there was another one in her but I checked this morning and no 2nd fawn.
Another doe was pacing and panting hard through last night and this morning, expecting another batch of fawns soon!

I had bred siblings to Downdraft and Updraft also. (2 years younger) The doe is Izzy and is owned by Phil Hinch and Michael Peters now. The buck died of pneumonia the first week of July as a yearling. That really sucked because he was bigger already by that time than Updraft was when done growing at age one.
Maybe your little fella can make his older brother look little also!!!
Congrats again and congrats to everyone. There really are some great deer being bred.

Had a single female fawn born last night to a bottle raised 2 year old whitetail doe.
Question is if I let the mother raise the fawn and I handle the fawn every day
what are the odds of the fawn being as gentle as a bottle raised fawn?
At present I only have 5 deer and are all bottle feed and will all eat from your hand
Wanting to keep heard this way. bottle feeding will not be a problem just curious on others past experience.

They call it imprinting by going out everyday and handling the fawn.......the problem is after they get 4 and 5 days old they start running away from you.......anyhow, if you are in tue pen with the fawn everyday it will get used to you and be a calm deer...probably even eat out of your hand.....you just might not be able to pet it like you do the bottle Feds.......but I know some that have done the imprinting and swear by it.......Good luck with what ever you decide....

congrats to all on there fawns!!!!! autumn I like numax his mother is red 8 she throws frame and is one of the original super does !!!! Rebel produces!! good luck!!!!

Just venting-
I had Fearful's mother and Fearful's womb mate fawn two nights ago. Tagged two of them at 10:30 pm and was expecting to tag the other two in the morning. I found one fawn half eaten, one fawn ripped to shreds and another whole that had been trampled and the fourth gone...
After some scouting I found what I was looking for bear prints. I gathered up what was left of the fawns and baited my new friend up... The next night around 11:30 I sent him to meet his maker with my friend the hollow point!
Electric fence is being installed as we speak. On a positive note I did recover the $.45 ear tags. Cheers!

Sorry to hear about what happened Josh I think you stopped it from doing anything else to your deer!!!!!!!
With the weather we are getting in southern MN I wish the does would sit on their tails and hold the fawns in! Just kidding we have 11 fawns and they are doing good! 8 bucks and 3 doe fawns. Good luck to everyone JIM SIMONSON
