2013 fawns popping out

Today we had a set of fawns born that I personally am quite fond of. They trace back 8 generations of breeding, and go back to the very first doe I ever purchased. Tinkerbell was purchased from Dale Kremsrieter. She bred to Pegasus produced a buck we named Deke. Deke was bred to another of our first does (Y-21) who was a double bred Mr Awesome doe we purchased from Guyland VanAsten. Deke and Y-21 produced Y-0011 who starts the tail end of the pedigree sheet posted.

FYI, Deke was better the 1/2 brother to WRW Stretch. Y-0011's womb brother scored over 220"

Every buck the AV doe AND her womb sister produced went over 200" by age 2 or 3.

Haley's son Big Drift scored over 300" at age 2 and is the womb to Shelby.

I sold Shelby after getting the 1 doe fawn named Whiskers.

Today was Whiskers first time fawning and I am very happy she gave us one of each. Whiskers and her fawns are co-owned with Karl Schriener of Haymarsh Whitetails.

So in the make up of this pedigree, Deke was born on my farm, and then I also produced....

Y-0011

AV doe

Max Thrust

Haley

IR Dolly

Updraft

Shelby

Grace

Shredder

Whiskers

Downdraft

and finally today's buck (Y-14) and doe (Y-13) fawns.

Didn't mean to bore everyone, I just find this pedigree kinda special. These fawns might not get me into the big sales like other fawns I have would. But the production has always been there, and this is where my roots started back in 1995.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

:)

Roger,

Very interesting about your deer. I just wanted you to know the Updraft daughter had a doe fawn today. We will make it into a bottle baby as my son was ditching for our flood irrigation and just about ran over the two of them. She had just had the little girl and it wasn't even cleaned off. He got out of there right away and I watched for three hours from about a mile away and she never came back. They were in a 60 acre pen. She did run into another fawn and did mother up to it so I knew she wasn't coming back. Brought it in and dried it off. It wanted to nurse so I melted 4 oz of colustrum and she drank it down. She is in my living room as I write this and I hear her calling for her next meal so better sign off.

Hi Jack! I always get a kick out of saying that to you. :p It's an inside joke for me because of my job. LOL!

Glad your son didn't make chopped venison out of the little bugger. Drop me an email once and fill me in on the whats and hows of recent life around your parts.

Roger

Some great fawns hitting the ground. Be exciting watching all of them the next few years.

And josh I hate to hear that, I can't imagine having to deal with bears, that sucks bad.

On a good note we had cardiac kid/poncho on joie fawns yesterday! A buck and doe. I'm excited about that little girl for sure!

Have a few more up north should go in the next week or so I think.

Still about 20-30 days out on my babies here in TX but my does look great and I think AI was excellent, can't wait it's almost like Christmas in June for me.

Had our first ever Piebald last night. Best part it was on purpose. It was very cool.

Got 14 fawns so far, but the weather in southern MN is not fawning weather. It is cold and rainy and the 10 day out look is not looking any better! JIM

Still confused had our first fawn ever born on our place Tuesday night.

Little healthy doe fawn. Mother Is goining on 2 years old but this was her first fawns and I had expected twins due to her looking like a blimp.i walked every inch of the pen on a couple occasions looking for a second fawn possibly stil born and found no signs of another fawn then Friday afternoon I notice a fawn in one pen and another in and ajoining pen. It now seems the doe had twins and I didn't realize for 3 days. Which is possible but truly can't see how I had missed second fawn with the hours I had spent walking the pen looking for signs of a second fawn these are rather small pens but due have a strip of grain apron 2' tall in each.

I'm up to 9 fawns so far. 4 bucks and 5 does. Most out of Rolling Timber and 2 out of Sparky! Still have 4 or 5 left to pop!

Twin doe fawns from Numax doe/Rebel son yesterday, we will probably be selling one of the doe fawns and mother. I can't wait to start bottle feeding them, nothing like 'new fawn scent'!! :D
