ACA Questions and Answers

Can a nonprofit lobby? Not sure about that. So according to what I am reading we now have NADEFA, EWA, NAEBA and ACA.

It depends on what type of nonprofit it is. There are several different types of tax exempt status. Some can lobby and some can't.

Nonprofits, if they are set up correctly can and do lobby politically...501( c ) 4, 5, or 6 can lobby politically....501( c ) 3 which are most charities and foundations cannot lobby for political candidates but for statutes that affect foundations in particular. The three National organizations are set up more than likely as a 501( c ) 4 which include trade organizations such as the three national associations. I would also venture to say most state associations also have that same IRS non-profit status...hope this helps

I think that if everyone on this thread put as much effort into doing some

thing other than arguing over ACA and tried to work together with ACA & NADEFA we might actually gain some ground on our problems. I'm a member of

the Mn. deer Breeders and a member of NADEFA and I also support ACA.Just for everyones information the money was designated to go to the Brakke's for leagal fees {Fred}

Thank You

A question for the good folks in the ACA about it's position on "the CWD Alliance?

The British Deer Society has just informed its members that CWD is "beyond control" in some US states & they are advising European hunters to leave behind their hunting equipment/clothes before returning to Europe,for bio security. DEFRA has only just published that CWD is a low risk to Britain, so I raise my eyebrows at this.

My concern is that the Britt's are getting all their info from the CWD Alliance (including QDMA). ACA could do well to ensure any info being handed about is correct & counter any false.

IS the ACA looking to join the CWD Alliance & try to work with it, or is this too much to ask from those in the CWD alliance & whose "ethics" on fair chase appear to be getting in the way of trying to abate this disease?

A position from ACA on the CWD Alliance would be appreciated.

Thanks
